Chapter 9

Me and Connor walked into the coffee shop and we were the first ones there. We decided to go order then wait for the others.

"My usual please" I said as the waitress recognised me from picking my regular morning order everyday.

"Okie dokie Scarlett and what can I get for you?" She said with a large smile.

"Err I'll have the same" he said scratching the back of his neck.

"You don't even know what that is?!" I say as we walk to a table to wait for our orders.

We pick a table with enough seats and sit down. We both go on our phones with no conversation what so ever. Maybe it's nerves?

A few minutes later the door opens and I look up to see who it is. Brad. Oh. Connor smiles and calls him over as I just sit there in shock.

"Hey" he said reaching the table and pulling chair out trying not to make awkward eye contact.

"Hi" I finally replied after coming out of my freeze.

" have you guys ordered"

" yup" Connor answered

"Let me guess vanilla frapichino with extra cream?" He said to me with a smirk.

" obviously!" I laughed. It felt different. Weird. Like it used to be. Laughing with Brad.

" hahha I'm going to go order back in a second" he said walking over to the counter.

It had been 15 minutes and James and Connor were here and we were just waiting for tris.

" he's just parking up" said brad looking up from his phone, he had barely talked since the others got here, maybe he sensed something.

The door opened in the quiet cafe and tristan walked in with a tall girl holding his hand. She was gorgeous with long brown hair and a stunning figure, she was the definition of perfection! Her and tristan looked perfect together and they both looked so happy.

" that's his girlfriend Hannah, they're so cute aren't they?" Connor whispered in my ear. I nodded as I watched them walk over to the table. Hannah came straight to me and I stood up to greet her.

" Hi! I'm Hannah, I'm Tristan's girlfriend, I've heard so much about you it's so nice to finally meet you! By the way your sooo pretty!" She said looking me up and down. She looked back at me with a massive smile showing her gorgeous teeth. Did I say she was stunning?

"It's so nice to meet you! I'm Scarlett! And I'm not but seriously your friggin perfect!" I said laughing.

"Aww thankyou babe!" She said giving me a hug " I can tell we are going to be good friends!"

"Definitely!" I agreed as we both sat down and I realised everyone had stopped talking and was watching us, but within seconds everyone was back in conversation and me and Hannah were getting to know each other a lot more.

After an hour Connor nudges me to let me know it's time. I give him a discrete nod and he stands up and gets everyone's attention. My eyes fix on brad as Connor starts talking.

" as lovely as it is just coming for a coffee with you guys that's not just why I invited you." He looked at me and continued "as you know me and Scarlett went on a date the other day" I watch bradley as his posture changed and he stiffens at what he just heard "well I just want to announce to you guys that we are officially going out! We are officially boyfriend and girlfriend!" Connor says in an upbeat voice as they clap and I give a smile to show my happiness.

" im sorry I can't" brad stands up and runs out the door of the shop and I immediately stand up to follow him.

"Scarlett,leave him!" Connor says grabbing my arm.

"No I need to do this Connor" I say yanking my arm out if his grasp and run out after brad.

"Brad wait!!" I shout as I see him at the end of the street. He stops and turns round as I catch up and as I come closer I see that he's crying and to be honest it breaks my heart like it always does.

"I'm sorry Scarlett I can't do this, I thought I could but I can't, it hurts too much" he says wiping his tears that roll down his cheek.

I take a step towards him "Brad I'm sorry, I didn't know you were coming I wouldn't of-"

" it's fine. I just can't sit in there with you two and act as if I'm happy for you both." he said taking a moment before he continues " do you know why I can't scarl?"

" no" I barely whisper

" because i love you. I never stopped. I always will. Even though you didn't believe me and believed a stupid girl at a night club over me I still love you. And I know there's nothing I can do about it. Is there?"

I stand there tears streaming down my face and I'm too in shock to reply. I'm frozen. I stand there watching him just hoping the words will come out. They don't. " I knew it. Don't worry it's fine. Bye Scarlett" he said before turning the corner and walking away.

"I love you too. Fight for me brad" i say but the wind takes the noise away so it comes out barely a whisper. I can't stop the tears falling. He still loves me, he never stopped.
