The way to the basement takes a little while. Everything seems like a maze to me. I really should have gone on a house tour. When I walk around the corner I can already see the door to the laundry room. It is slightly open and I hear several voices coming from that direction. I don’t know if I’m already ready to meet new people, I find it odd that I haven’t seen anyone living in this house yet, but being shy really is my biggest insecurity. I find it hard to talk to new people, or even hold a proper conversation. Standing in front of the door, I peek into the gap. There are four boys jumping around and singing. Each one has a beautiful voice and they seem to have fun. I put my hand on the door knob and open it. Unfortunately, the door opens with a squeal and the boys stop doing whatever they did. I feel all eight eyes on me as I walk to one of the washers with my eyes watching my steps. When I look up, my suspicion is right. All four boys stare at me. My eyes meet blue eyes that belong to a boy with blonde hair. He as a lip piercing and he is the tallest of the boys. His Ramones shirt is black, as well as his skinny jeans and sneakers. My look meets his again, however, instead of just staring at me, he is smiling shyly. I think I checked him out for too long, but I do the same and smile shyly. Then I feel the heat collecting in my cheeks. Probably looking like a tomato now, I turn around and continue walking to the washer. I hear whispers and mumbles coming from behind me, but I don’t bother to turn around. Maybe I should have said something. He is really cute, actually all of them are handsome, but like I said, I’m too shy to talk to them.

I put my clothes into the washer and shortly after they are swirling around, so I decide to go upstairs and get ready for bed. I leave the laundry room and make my way to the elevator.

Why do I have to be so shy? That could have been a chance to make friends. But there’s just something in my head that stops me everytime.

I’m now entering the elevator and press the button with the number 7.

Suddenly I hear a guy.“Wait! Hold up the door for me.” I do what the voice says and quickly put my arm between the elevator door that was starting to close. When the door opens again, my eyes meet with the blue eyes from the laundry room. “Thanks”, he says. He is panting and looks like he just ran the way from the laundry room to the elevator. I just smile at him and feel my face heating up again.

No. No. No. Not again. Why am I blushing again. It’ s not a big deal to hold a door open for such a cute guy. Wait? Did I just really think that. Reese, get your act together. You are an adult now, so stop acting like a little girl.

I’m caught out of my thoughts, when the blonde all of a sudden turns around. I’ve been staring at his back while I was having an inner discussion with myself. “Hey, my room’s on the same floor.”, he says while smiling widely at me. “My name is Luke!”, the boy tells me while holding his hand out towards me. I just stare at it and try to find the words. “Nice to meet you.”, I almost whisper and take his hand. A tingle starts spreading out, starting from my fingers and going up to my arm. When I look up he is smiling at me again. “Uhm.. What is your name?”, he asks me, still holding onto my hand. Oh gosh, did I really forget to introduce myself? “Oh..., I’m s-sorry. I’m Reese.”, I stutter. “Nice to meet you Reese!”, Luke responds. I let go of his hand and stare at my feet. The silence that follows is awkward and I’m relieved when the elevator door opens with a bing. He walks out first and I follow. “So, are you a freshman?”, Luke tries to start a conversation again. “Yeah.”, I mumble. I don’t know why I’m being so quiet. It’s not like I have a crush on him, I just met him. “Cool, me too. I just arrived a week ago with the other guys from the laundry room.” “Cool.”, is all I say. Seriously Reese? “When did you arrive?”, “Uhm.. me?” Of course he means you! There’s no one else in sight. “ I.. I actually just arrived this morning”, I quickly add. “Oh really. So you probably haven’t seen the house, have you?” I just notice that he has a really cute accent. However, I can not infer where it’s from. “No, not really.” We are walking down the hallway and are now next to my door. Before he can turn around the corner I utter “Uhm.. Luke. My room is here.” He turns around and lets out a little chuckle. “Oh, okay. Well, I guess I see you around?”, he half ask and half states while scratching his neck. “Yeah”, I breathe out and open my door. Inside, I lean against it and slide down.

I mentally slap myself for not saying more and let out a desperate grunt. But I don’t want to think about it too much, so I take my little bag with my toiletries and go to the nearest bathroom. I decide to take a hot shower to relax. After brushing my teeth I exit the bathroom and bring the bag back to my room. My laundry should be done by now, so I take the elevator down again.

Fortunately, all the boys are gone. I didn’t want to experience another embarrassing conversation today. Like I expected, my new clothes are freshly washed. The smell of it is just heavenly.

Today was a long day and I now notice that my legs really hurt and that I’m exhausted. I make my way back to my room. Back there, I let myself fall onto my bed and I am pleased that I already changed into my pj’s.

My eyelids start to get heavy and shortly after I enter the dreamworld again…
