I feel like my chapters are way shorter than everyone else's. I know I update every day, but it feels like I'm letting you guys down?

Rory's POV

I sat on the edge of a pinky red sofa, next to Kevin and near Mitch. The rest of the group were sprawled over the floor, sofa and chairs that were clustered in the corner of the room, singing. Just.. Singing. They were arranging a cover of something, I think, but they did this thing where they were bouncing ideas off each other. After that finished they moved onto singing over each other and trying stuff out. I mean, it wasn't even a full song yet and it sounded drop dead gorgeous.

So, as they were arranging this song, I just sort of sat there in awe. I'm not really the type to obsess over things, or get over excited or anything, but... Shit. They were amazing.

Once they had done, presumably getting the basics down, they looked at me. "What do you think?" Kirstie asked. Upon meeting Kirstie earlier, I discovered three things; 1, she was incredibly pretty. 2, she and I couldn't be more different if we tried. Seriously. 3, we got on like a house on fire.

I didn't say anything. "Umm, Rory?"

"Wow. Just... Wow." Kevin burst out laughing.

"You know what, I think she liked it," he said.

"Whatever gave you that idea?" I grinned. That got everyone else laughing.

While they went over some stuff real quick, I sat almost in shock. I already knew Scott could sing, and damn well at that, but Mitch was just as good. And that was just on their own. When you put the whole group together, it was unbelievable.

I was also impressed by Kevin's beat boxing. He sang too, and Avi told me that he could play cello at the same time. When I asked him what else he could do, he reeled off a list casually that made my jaw drop.

After talking for awhile, Scott turned to me. "Hey Rory," he said with a smirk. "Why don't you sing for us?"

"Oh, no no no no no, you don't get to pull that on me."

"C'mon," Avi pleaded, pouting. I liked him- he knew how to use puppy dog eyes to full effect, something I learned from my brother and dad at a young age. I also learned that when you did them properly, they were irresistible.

"Ugh, fine," I rolled my eyes. "I'll do a duet. Pick a song, preferably one I know."

"No idea. You pick," Scott said.

"Frozen!" Mitch suggested. I shrugged.

"I'm down if you are," I said to Scott. He just nodded, gesturing for me to start.

I took a deep breath, realising that I was about to sing for these people, who were all crazy talented in a sweet-baby-Jesus kind of way. I almost backed out then and there, but decided not to at the last minute.

"All my life has been a series of doors in my face

Then suddenly I bump into you" I started shakily.

Scott smiled reassuringly. "I was thinking the same thing! 'Cause like,

I've been searching my whole life to find my own place

And maybe it's the party talking or the chocolate fondue." He sang confidently.

"But with you..."

" But with you,

I found my place..."

"I see your face..."

"And it's nothing like I've ever known before!

Love is an open door!

Love is an open door!

Love is an open door!" We both sang, getting louder.

"With you!"

" With you!"

"With you!"

"With you!"

" Love is an open door..."

"I mean it's crazy..." Scott continued, letting me know with a look that I wasn't getting away with only the first verse. I rolled my eyes.

"What?"

"How We finish each other's-"

" Sandwiches!" I said, getting the timing just right (thankfully).

"That's what I was gonna say!"

"I've never met someone--"

"Who thinks so much like me!

Jinx! Jinx again!

Our mental synchronization

Can have but one explanation,"

"You--"

" And I--"

" Were--"

Just--"

" Meant to be!"

"Mm hmmm," I hummed, having forgotten the words and making everyone laugh.

"Say goodbye..." Scott reminded me, doing his best to go on and not laugh along.

"To the pain of the past

We don't have to feel it anymore!

Love is an open door!

Love is an open door!

Life can be so much more!" We managed, me remembering.

"With you!"

"With you!!" Scott barely got out.

"With you!!!" I struggled

"With you!!!!" Here we just broke down into giggles. Mitch, laughing along with the rest of us, managed to keep it in and end the song, with a loud, exaggerated "love is an open door..." That sent us all back into fits of laughter.

Once we all had our breath back and the giggling fits had subsided (on the most part. There was still the occasional laugh, mostly from me Scott or Mitch whenever we caught each others eye) they all complimented me.

"You were really good," Avi said with a smile, making my ears go pink.

"Yeah, when were you gonna tell me you could sing?" Kevin asked.

"It never came up," I shrugged, crossing my legs.

"I was told that she could 'kind of sing but not really'," Mitch interjected.

"We'll I don't!" I defended. Kirstie scoffed.

"You quite clearly do."

"Everyone freeze, I have an idea," Scott said suddenly.

Well that is lots of writing with not-a-lot of substance. Oops.

One POV, no time skip, nothing important happening. Is the (annoying) cliffy the only redeeming quality?

Whatever, it's late and wonderful people kept uploading while I wrote, so OBVIOUSLY, I had to save and go check THAT out.

Let me know what you think, and thanks for reading.
