I make my way downstairs and grab a step ladder so I can reach the cereal on the top shelf. I pour myself some Frosted Flakes, put milk in and sit down at the kitchen table. The soft padding of four legs comes from the stairs. A few seconds later Orthrus appears and makes his way to his food dish. I hear the soft crunch and slirpping as he eats. After I finish my cereal I ease myself out of the chair and softly walk to the kitchen sink to put my bowl in. As I turn around I see Aris come into view. He looks tired and all rounded with his black hair messy a top his head but his green eyes are as piercing as ever. I don't think he's seen me so I sneak out of the kitchen when he stoops down to pet Orthrus. I quietly make my way upstairs and grab a book. I make my way to the window and look outside. The Sun is shining and a soft breeze blows across the water. I open the window and jump out onto the roof.

I shimmy down until I'm hanging on to the edge with my hands and the book gripped tightly by my mouth. I let go and brace myself for impact. I'm only in the air for about two seconds when I hit the ground and land in a crouch. I stand up and wipe my hands on my jeans and look for a comfortable place to sit down and enjoy the book. I choose a spot in the shade of a tall palm tree by the tall hedges that surround the property. I lay down and open the book. It's about a girl named Esther who is supernatural and has cool powers which are almost like legacies. Aris said I'm still three years before I'm even close to developing them. I read for a good two hours before the still rising Sun is directly in my face. I close the book and turn over and drift off into a restless sleep.

I'm in the jungle standing on soft grass near a rushing river. A small hut is built beside the water. The trees tower above me creating menacing shadows that are to dense to see through. Even though it seems peaceful something is wrong. I start to hear the marching of feet coming from every direction. I start to hear shots being fired and a scream erupts from the hut. It is pure anger. I still can't see anything but I can hear and feel it. The ground starts to shake and the hut collapses. The ground starts to quaver and split open. In a certain spot the rock looks like liquid from the ripples that move through it. I still can't see anything for another five minutes until something huge happens. I hear a scream and all the things that created those sounds come into view. I see a blond girl about fourteen with a sword through her stomach. A Mogadorian stands behind her with his hand on the hilt. More than a dozen Mogs stand around. I look around and see a seven foot Mog standing far away with two young teenagers standing beside him. The seven foot one and the more stockier one have grins on their faces. The small skinny teenager stands with a shocked expression. I look back at the girl who has just collapsed onto the ground. Some how I feel the pain start in my stomach and a ripping sensation grips my body. I scream and fall forward. The world spins and I black out.

I wake up covered in sweat and look around. Everything is fine and peaceful. I sit up and and place my head in between my knees. A ringing sound fills my ears. I look up and everything comes into focus. Alarms are blaring from the house. I rush in side with my book and place it on the kitchen counter. I walk to the source of the noise which seems to be coming from the library. I walk in, passing the secret door behind a book case and make my way to where Aris and my parents are standing in front of the monitors. There are nine of them arranged in a square displaying a map of the world showing all things Loric. Blue pulsing dots to show the Garde, green dots for the ships and blue triangles for the large chucks of lorite. I make my way to the screen and count the dots. One for one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, me, mom and... one is missing. But my dad is standing right beside me so he can't be the one missing. But the charm... One. One is dead.

I sit in the van looking up at the house. All our luggage is in the trunk, a few laptops and the three chests. Orthrus sits in my lap and Aris beside me. My parents walk out of the house and lock the door. My father is carrying the phone that ran the Loric map in his hand. I get a glimpse before he slips it into his pocket. We have five minutes to leave before the alarm goes off and we start being fired at. My parents walk towards the van looking depressed. We've been here since we landed on Earth. My dad gets into the driver's seat and my mom in the passenger's. He starts the van and backs out of the drive way. I get one good last look at the house before the trees and hedges swallow the image. My dad hits the brakes and shifts gears. We pull out onto the road that will take us south. I slowly take my headphones from my pocket and plug them in. I slip them into my ears and turn up the music, getting lost on the process.
