I wondered through the halls of my foster home, I had to think of a new escape plan. I certainly wasn't too pleased with my last attempt.
My hand gripped my booby pin and I started to fidget it around in the key hole. Just a few more seconds... got it! I hurried out, being careful not to set off any alarms, and ran down the street.
I was looking for my father. I had no information about him and I just wanted to know if I had any family left. All I know is his first name. Dean. I know nothing about what he looks like or anything.
I walked along the footpath to a hotel that I had spotted. I checked into get a room, not using a surname, because I didn't know mine. I hurried in and had a good night sleep before I had to set off in the morning.
I wok up to people walking around the hotel. I sighed and my stomach grumbled. I walked along the halls and found the cafeteria and sat down. Looking at the menu. In the end I decided I'd just get toast because that's what I usually ate.
I ate it happily then left the hotel. I had to get out before they realised I had used a stolen credit card. Oops?
I walked out of the hotel, only to bump into a tall man. My heart beat increased. Man. "Excuse me," the man said in a deep voice. He had brown hair that reached his neck and he was abnormally tall. "Dammit Sam, come on," another man mumbled. Walking pass both of us. I nodded and quickly walked away, shaking with fear.
I was afraid of men, very afraid. I realised I would have to go to the room to get my bag, so I walked up the many stairs and grabbed my bag and then left again.
I just wanted out. I was walking along the footpath again and after a while it was starting to get dark, I noticed a car pull over and saw it was the same man who I had bumped into before hand.
"Hey, what are you doing walking around in the dark alone?" The man beside Sam said. "J-just walking home," I stuttered. They raised an eyebrow and looked at each other.
"Well give you a lift, it's not safe for a girl your age walking around at this time." Sam said.
"It's also not safe for a girl to get into a car with two grown men," I mumbled. Sam chuckled, "were not going to do anything, trust me, were not like that."
I shook my head and continued walking until I saw the car stop beside me again. "Seriously, get into th car, it's dangerous to be out here." The other guy stated. I shuddered in the cold and finally gave in.
I walked to the back of the car and got in. "Where do you live?" Sam asked, looking at me through the rear view mirror.
"I-I don't have a house," I state quietly. The other guy turned around and looked at me, so you just stay in hotels all the time?" He asked me, sounding sympathetic. I didn't like him. There was something scary about him.
"Umm, Ye, you could say that."
There was an awkward silence after that and I leaned my head against the window. I really regret getting into the car now. Sam and the other guy seemed to he having a conversation with their eyes. Sam pulled over and fear took over me.
The other guy got out of the car and sat in beside me. I felt myself tremble as he took off his jacket and placed it around me. "T-thanks," I whispered. He simply nodded and shrugged. "I'm dean," he said, holding out his hand. "Ellie," I mumbled.
Sam started to drive again while I sat in the back with dean. "So, Ellie, if you don't mind me asking, why don't you have a house?" Dean asked me. "Um, well my mom had a one night stand, got pregnant, never told the dad, and then when I was two she died in a fire. I can still remember seeing her dead body above me, and then--" I cut off. THey wouldn't believe me. "Then what?" Sam asked softly.
"And then, she was just on fire, and next thing you know I'm in a foster home. I tried to sneak out plenty of times, but I only succeeded this time."
"Do you know anything about your father?" Dean asked.
"Only his first name, is, like yours, Dean."
"Oh," he mumbled. I sighed and felt tears fall down my cheeks. Dean reached over and wiped them away. "Don't cry, it's ok," he whispered. "How is seeing my mother die ok?" I snapped. "Do you have any idea how that feels?"
"Yes, actually I do, the exact same thing happened to mine, it haunts me every day."
By now dean looked like he was going to cry, and I felt bad for bringing it up. "Oh." A sigh escaped his lips and a sob muffled my throat. "What was your mothers name?" He asked quietly. "Lauren sanders."
His face placed and he looked me up and down. "No, you can't be-"
"Be what?"
"Be my daughter."
"What do you mean I'm your daughter?" I cried, feeling angry. "You're my daughter, sams your uncle. We're family."
I felt relief overwhelm me. I was glad I had a father, I was glad I found him. But he wasn't what I was hoping for. "You aren't my father," I growled. "Youre nothing." His eyes clouded with pain and his face fell.
"I'm sorry you feel that way," he mumbled. "Stop the car," I ordered. "Why would I do that?" Sam asked me. "Because I want to get away from the two of you as fast as possible."
Dean looked at me for a few seconds before nodding. "Stop the car Sam, she wants out."
"Dude that's your daughter, we can't just leave her roaming the streets," he fired back. I felt sadness overcome me. Dean left me before, and now he was doing it again. He glared at Sam and eventually, same gave in. As I tried to step out of the car dean grabbed my arm. "Don't do anything stupid. And uhh, I'm sorry."
I closed the door and gasped, I looked around, I couldn't walk through this. We were in the middle of a forest. A scary forest, just what were they trying to do? I noticed the car was still parked beside me, so I swallowed my dignity and got back in. "Change your mind?" Sam asked with a smirk.
I huffed and rolled my eyes. What a dick. Dean, who was still in the back with me, tried desperately to hide a smile, but failed. "What's wrong? Scared of the dark?" He taunted. "No," I mumbled. He chuckled and Sam started driving again. "So where are we going?" I asked.
"We don't know." The Both said at the same time. I huffed and leaned back in the seat.
After a long time, I eventually spoke up, "I want pie," I mumbled. "Me too," dean agreed. Sam chuckled and we both raised our eyebrows at him. "What? You guys are like the exact same!" He argued. We both sighed and shook our heads.
Dean looked at me and smiled, "you should get some sleep, after all, well be in this car for the next few days."
I widened my eyes at him and he nodded. "Hey, kid, I'm sorry about everything', including your mom, just don't be too hard on us okay?" Sam asked gently. I nodded slightly while dean stared at us, showing no emotion.
After a long time of silence dean eventually moved closer to me. "You know, that was a really dumb thing to do."
"What?" I asked tiredly. "Sneaking out of that foster home," he explained. "How was it dumb?" "Well, you could've gotten caught, then you'd be annoyed,"
"So you don't care that I would've gotten into trouble?"
"Nah not really, I was never one for rules."
I nodded slightly while leaning my head against the car window. "Hey, are you comfortable like that?" Same asked me. "I'm fine," I mumbled. Dean moved closer to me and moved my head so it was resting on his shoulder. "I want you to he comfortable," he said with a shrug.
I eventually drifted off to sleep.
