I walked through the dark forest, I was once again out training too late, why did I always do that? I constantly lost track of time while training. "Ellie?" A voice called out to me, I looked around in confusion. My breaths were coming out heavy, I hadn't stopped moving throughout the whole training session. I liked exercising. "I'm over here!" I shouted. The male body of Castiel walked towards me.
"Dean sent me to come and get you," he stated once he was standing very close to me. I sighed, of course he did. "Is there a problem?" He asked. I shook my head, but in fact there was. Dean was getting more and more distant, he was always on hunts and he never really had any time for me anymore. He used to set days that he would train me or spend some time together, or he would at least speak to me at dinner, but now he barely even acknowledged my presence. It was like he was purposely avoiding me, and I didn't like it.
"He's not trying to avoid you, it's just how he is, he feels you're pushing him away so he's doing the same to you," Cass explained. I forgot that he could read my thoughts.
"How am I pushing him away?" I asked.
He shrugged his shoulders, "Maybe because you've been lying to him and all of the secrets that you're keeping from him."
I furrowed my eyebrows, I hadn't realized that dean could tell that I was keeping things from him, I also thought that I had gotten better at lying but he was a professional liar so he could obviously tell.
"Do you think I should talk to him?" I asked.
"I believe that would help the predicament you are having, he believes you are pushing him away, you believe he is pushing you away, it's simply a misunderstanding."
I nodded in agreement and we soon arrived back at the bunker. "Go to him now," Cass instructed.
I saw dean sitting at a desk in the library, staring hard at a book, his back facing me. I paused as I was directly behind him, this would be the first time I had a proper conversation with him in days. I took a deep breath and was about to speak when he started the conversation for me.
"You okay?" He asked, obviously sensing my presence behind him.
"Yeah, uh I was just wondering if you needed any help?"
"Well, not really, I'm just doing a bit of research."
I nodded awkwardly and but the inside of my cheek, well there you go. I turned to walk away but he grabbed my forearm, "I wouldn't mind a bit of company though," he told me. I felt a small smile spread across my lips, he wanted to spend time with me.
I took a seat beside him and watched as he stared at the book. "So how have you been?" He asked. "Fine," I mumbled. He sighed and closed his eyes for a brief second, obviously stressed out. I then realized why I was there, it was so he wouldn't think I was pushing him away.
"Actually, not that great," I contradicted myself. He looked up at me with a mix of concern and shock, "and why is that?"
"To be honest, you."
His eyes widened, "me?"
"Well you've been pushing me away."
"Because you've been pushing me away."
"How?"
"You're keeping all these secrets, you're constantly lying about how you're feeling, where you're going and what you're doing!"
"i-i" I found myself silenced, I had no answer. He was right, I was always lying to him. "I'm sorry," I mumbled quietly. "Look it's okay, I get it, you don't want to tell me things, but I'm your father and when I ask you a question I expect you to answer with the truth."
