Your eyes fluttered open as you felt yourself fade out of the dreams that had been occupying your mind. The sound of familiar voices and the shuffling of bodies were what had caused the unappreciated awakening. Having been a part of the Curtis family meant you were accustomed to the morning gatherings, but that doesn't mean it could beat a full eight hours.

This morning was especially irritating due to the trouble you'd encountered trying to rest the night before. Your mind was a cluttered mess of thoughts about a certain member of the gang. You kept laughing to yourself about jokes he'd made, or flashing back to embarrassing moments you'd experienced in front of the group. You had tried to brush the images away, and cursed yourself for picturing them in them in the first place. You reasoned with yourself that if he'd returned those same feelings, he would have tried something by now. It was that same boy's laughter that had snapped you out of your slumber.

Without any sense of urgency, you lazily pushed yourself out of bed. You were not a morning person, and the high pitch of Mickey's voice spilling throughout the house was no comfort. However, the routinely manner of Two-Bit's morning cartoon watching was something that would always make you chuckle. Somehow you could always forgive him.

Still stumbling with grogginess, you swiftly got dressed and made yourself presentable. Though you liked to keep it casual, you also knew how to make everything you wore compliment your looks, and hug your figure. A quality that didn't regularly go unappreciated. As Sodapop's twin, you were quite accustomed to a little extra attention, and you didn't mind taking it. With one last fluid motion of the brush through your hair, you left your bedroom to meet with the gang. Following the usual hectic manner of your mornings, you went unnoticed for awhile. Eventually Darry offered you some breakfast, which you gratefully accepted. Soon after you started your meal, Darry went off to work. The rest of the gang was able to stick around though. Except for Dally, who would still be in the cooler for the next two months.

Once you finished eating, you cleaned up a bit and then joined the gang, who had mostly settled in the living room. Mickey was still glowing on the small television, of course. However, when you entered the room you noticed that the conversation taking place had ended. There were a few glances in your direction, but the rest of the gang seemed curiously tense. Not desiring to make the situation more uncomfortable, you decided to be blunt.

"Alright, that was awkward and completely suspicious" you stated "We're out of eggs, I'm going to pick some up" and with that you made your way to the door.

You weren't worried about the gang objecting, things had been pleasantly calmer the past couple of weeks. Part of you also knew the boys would let you leave because the wanted to finish whatever conversation they were having that you apparently couldn't hear. As you walked along the sidewalk, you focused on your shoes hitting the pavement, each step getting you further to your destination. Your mind started to crawl back towards thoughts of Two-Bit. Specifically how he refused to meet your brown eyes in the living room earlier.

"Oh god" you grumbled to yourself "this better not be the start of a crush."

You had known the gang your whole life. You were sixteen now. If Two-Bit felt the same way, wouldn't he have shown it by now? He certainly didn't have a problem lifting the skirts of other girls. You shook the worries from your mind when you realized you were at the store. You walked in casually and grabbed the eggs and some chocolate for a cake. You had seen that Darry didn't have the ingredients for another one tomorrow morning, so you decided to make one yourself. It was a skill Darry made sure you had.

You placed the items gingerly on the counter, not wanting to break anything, and the cashier rang you up. He was familiar with seeing you here before, so a little small talk took place. You both shared a polite smile with each other before you made your way back to the house. This time walking you were too busy focusing on resisting the temptation of eating the chocolate you had, that your mind wasn't occupied with too many other thoughts.
