~~~CHAPTER ONE: BACK TOGETHER~~~
Your POV:
The scent of freshly made pancakes filled my nose as I woke up from my bed. I placed my feet onto the top of the furry white carpet and skipped into the bathroom across the bed. Stomach growling for food, I brushed my teeth and washed my face before going downstairs to the kitchen. Putting the towel onto the rack hanging off the side of the sink after wiping my face, I looked up to see my reflection.
A pale face with rosy cheeks appeared. The brown doe-like eyes that twinkled through the reflection showed the emotion of excitement for something. While brushing my sandy brown hair, I walked towards the walk in closet to pick out a plain white t-shirt and light blue denim skinny jeans to wear. Looking into the mirror behind the bedroom door, my pendant stood out against my pale skin, due to its dark color. The heart-shaped pendant had swirls accompanying it, which had fit in nicely as a design.
"Morning Mom! Morning Dad!" As I walked into the kitchen, smiling.
"Morning Dear", Mom answered. Dad replied with his "Hmmms" while sipping his coffee.
As I sat onto my seat of the table, I couldn't help but smile widely because today was going to be the day where I can finally explore Hong Kong. My parents and I just moved in two days ago from America, and we were too busy unpacking our things to look around. Outside of my house, I can see grassy fields with many trees littered around, with many different flowers accompanying it through the windows. At the ends of my family's house( or 'mansion', my friends say) the tall buildings of Hong Kong are....indescribable. I was impressed by the size of it, because my house back in America was...normal.
As a child, parents had normal jobs as a teacher and a chef. Well, that was until they were offered a new job when I was in 3rd grade. After a couple years, they both somehow took over the companies they worked in, and became billionaires. (Yes, yes, I know, I know. It sounds really cliched. But it's true!)
Last week, my parents were notified that they needed to go over to China. It was really sudden, and I was surprised. But either way, it was a new experience so I felt happy with it.
"So mom", I started," where are we gonna go today?" I questioned.
"About that," mom replied, "we are going to look around the city."
"And after that we need to go to work for a while. So we will be very busy." Dad ended.
It seems like they would be working a lot now that they are in China. Working a lot would mean less time with them. Because of this, I thought that today should be well spent.
While dwelling on these thoughts, someone roughly ruffled my hair. Immediately, I thought of the only person that would do this to me: my brother.
"Daehyun!!!" I yelled out.
Daehyun chuckled loudly as he still messed with my hair.
"Same as always __________, so fierce!", he said smiling.
Daehyun was the brother that every girl would want. He was smart, good-looking, nice, and caring. We barely get into fights, and if we did, we held no grudges against each other. When I was in kindergarten, I remembered that I drew a picture of mom and dad, and I treasured it. But the next day, I found a power range doodled in between my parents and I. I was really upset and cried about it, but Daehyun explained: "__________, you forgot about me." I was confused and was going to yell at him, but he said:" that red power ranger is me, because I will protect you, mommy, AND daddy from all the bad guys." After I realized why he did that, I looked up to Daehyun and we barely argued, because I know that most of the things he do have good reasons and good intentions.
"Daehyun!" Mom exclaimed. "You're back!" She ran over to my brother and enveloped him in a tight hug.
"Mo..m......", he choked out, "ca..n't....."
"Honey! He can't breathe!", dad exclaimed, " let go of our poor son!"
It's been a while since I had last seen Daehyun. While I was a sophomore in high school, Daehyun already had a job, which was to take over our parent's company. He went over to Korea to promote our family's business, so it has been a while since we last saw him.
After settling down, everyone finished their breakfast and explored Hong Kong together. The place was very big, compared to what I've experienced in America. Back then, I lived in San Fransisco and I barely left the house. I only went to my school, the library, home and my parent's office building.
We drove around the city to see it magnificent buildings. We had many new things to experience, and food to eat. It is very hot here in Hong Kong, but it was fun, since I had my family with me finally at last, together.
