I shot yet another glare at Jason as he heaved a giant sigh.
“It’s not going to work.” I told him.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He told me in a puzzled tone.
“Sure you don’t.” I muttered as I stirred the pot I was cooking noodles in.
“And she’s right, that’s never going to happen.” Trish chimed in from the other room. She was getting ready to go out with Andrés for their anniversary while Jason sat on the counter watching me cook. It had been three days since that day when Caden had come knocking on the door and Trish and I were, for the most part, used to the newcomer sleeping on our couch.
“You already said that.” Jason called to her, before muttering under his breath, “Bitch-witch.”
“I heard that.” Andrés called.
“Don’t care.” Jason rolled his eyes.
“All right, we’re leaving.” Trish said as she walked into the kitchen.
“You look beautiful!” I smiled at her. She was dressed in a classy black dress and wore some beautiful crystal earrings.
“Thank you!” she beamed.
“You two have fun.” I told them and they said a last good bye before leaving.
“So the parental figures are out for the night for their boring couple fun, what should we do?” Jason asked, wiggling his eyebrows.
I laughed at him and shook my head. “Parental figures?”
“They sometimes act like they’re your parents.” Jason rolled his eyes.
“They just think it’s their job to take care of me.”
“Ah, because you’re fragile?” Jason asked knowingly. I thought he was joking at first but he seemed completely serious.
“I’m not that fragile.” I protested.
“Having broken a few human bones before let me tell you, you most certainly are fragile.”
I narrowed my eyes at him but didn’t bother to reply as I drained the noodles and Poured the sauce over them, dishing myself out some.
“So now that Trish isn’t here, why can’t I have people over?” Jason whined, returning to our earlier conversation.
“Because you want to bring over victims and we don’t want to have to dispose of any bodies.” I said flatly.
“What if I didn’t kill anyone? And I’ll be the one to get rid of them when I’m done with them. I can be nice to people!” Jason tried to assure me.
“Right.” I smirked.
Jason frowned and seemed deep in thought as he followed me to the table. He watched me intently as I ate, which I just ignored.
“If I can’t bring anyone here then I’ll be forced to kill the person, drag them in an alley and suck them dry. You don’t want that, do you?” he asked with a slightly sadistic grin.
