The rest of our dinner passed rather smoothly, especially seeing that every other interaction we had would end up in distasteful arguments. I found myself actually enjoying Caden’s company and we stayed at the restaurant for over an hour just talking about inconsequential things; from movies to books to classes. It felt almost normal and that in it of itself was strange.

The first thing I did when Caden dropped me back off at my cousins’ apartment was make a phone call to Jason. He answered on the second ring.

“Hey Andy, how was your day?” he asked immediately.

“Don’t you know?” I questioned. “I’d be surprised if you came all this way and then wound up spending it sulking in a motel room the whole time.”

Jason laughed. “I was wondering when you’d remember that little curse on us.”

“Well I had a little help…” I muttered.

“Yeah I noticed. Are you okay?” he asked, his voice turning serious.

“I don’t know.” I shrugged even though he couldn’t see it. “When did you start watching us?”

“Well no offense but your little cozy time with the baby was boring me so I just checked up on you and left to go have some fun.”

“Translation: you went to the park and started chatting up some poor unsuspecting victim who then took you home with her.”

“You know me so well.” I could tell from his voice that he was grinning. “But then you interrupted me you little minx!”

“Wha-“ I started to ask, but then stopped when realization came over me. At that point I began to laugh hysterically.

“Don’t laugh, it’s not funny!” he pouted.

“Oh my God, don’t tell me-“ I managed to gasp out in between laughs, but then completely lost it at the end and broke into another round of giggles.

“It’s not funny Andy!” he whined again.

“Did you at least manage to get some pants on?” I finally managed to calm myself down enough to ask.

“Yes. Pants and only pants. I didn’t even manage to slip on some underwear.” He muttered reluctantly.

I lost it again, not able to help myself when I imagined the confused look on that girls face when Jason suddenly just got up and left, probably cursing heavily as he pulled his pants on hurriedly and left the rest of his clothes with her.

“You would not believe the amount of scandalized looks I got.” He added on.

“Good God I can only imagine.” I gasped out. “How bad was it?”

“Well I had something to distract people from the fact I wasn’t wearing a shirt… Let’s just say that I wouldn’t have been able to piss straight if someone had held a stake to me chest.”

I shook my head, slightly snorting at his words. “Well, sorry to interrupt your dinner.”

“Nah it was no biggie, her blood type’s a dime a dozen. Like if she was an O positive blood type, you’d be AB negative so I’d much prefer being with you.”

I wrinkled my nose at the progression of that comment.

“Vampire compliments are weird.” I finally decided, making him chuckle.

“Moving on and back to the original question, I only started listening in on you guys when he thought he was being all clever and ordered greek pizza. Did he really hack into your email?”
