With Nicole gone, I went back to waiting for my pizza to arrive in a noticeably more depressed atmosphere. I didn’t know what else to do with myself and I couldn’t immerse myself back into the pages of my book no matter how I tried. I finally gave up on it and threw the book on the coffee table.
A furious hammering on the door made me jump and I quickly set my mug of tea down so I could answer it. When I opened the door, a giant body pushed past me and I could tell just from the smell of him who it was. He slammed the door shut and pushed me against it in quick movements, gripping my arms so tight I knew it would bruise.
“Nicole’s not here anymore if that’s why you came.” I gasped out, feeling incredibly frightened as I stared into his almost black eyes.
“I’m not here for her.” He snarled. “Though she’s the reason I came. That bitch broke up with me.”
“She’s not a-“ I jumped in, quick to defend my friend, but he jerked me away from the door before slamming me back against it hard. I whimpered at the pain, my head feeling dizzy from the blow.
“Don’t interrupt!” He yelled. “This is all your fault, I never wanted a human for a mate.”
He spat the word out as if it was a disease and I flinched at the insult.
“You’re too weak to be a leader. Look at how fragile you are, I could snap your arm like a twig just with one tiny motion.”
He tightened his hold on my left arm with those words and I cried out at the pain.
“Shut up.” He roared at me, his grip becoming even more vice-like.
“Please let me go.” I begged, but that seemed to make him even angrier.
I thought I heard a slight crack and I screamed out as I felt a fiery pain in my arm. I didn’t even realize my eyes were closed until I felt a tearing at my neck and my eyes flew open to find Caden against my neck.
“STOP! PLEASE!” I screamed out, using my right hand to try to push him off me.
All he did was pick me up in his arms and drop me on the couch, his teeth never leaving their grip on the side of my neck. I felt a warm and wet liquid trickle down my neck and I knew it was blood.
“CADEN!”
At the sound of his name, his teeth tightened even more and the pain doubled, sending my body into pure agony. I was more scared then I had ever been before in my life and I screamed louder.
Finally he let go and, almost tenderly, licked the side of my neck. The sudden switch in temperaments made me sob harder for some reason and he leaned back, looking down at me with wide eyes. I turned away so I didn’t have to look at him, cradling my left arm to my chest as it throbbed painfully which only served to make me cry harder. My sobs had gotten to the point where they were almost painful and I was finding it hard to breathe.
For the third time the door burst open and I heard a loud, “ANDY!” before Caden was ripped off of me.
I couldn’t find it in myself to care.
I felt a change in my mind, I could feel a connection to him in my subconscious and I could both hear him fighting someone and I could vaguely tell in my mind that he was getting the shit beat out of him because of the connection he had just forced upon me, but I was in too much turmoil to care.
