"Be confident. It's not like anyone will be better than you."

Elizabeth-

I awoke to the sound of birds chirping.
I could tell that it was a sunny day because of the bright sunlight shining through my window.
It was almost summer, which meant school was almost over, which mean fun was almost here, and so on.

It was currently 8:30 am on a Saturday morning.
You see, on a Saturday, I'd usually be sleeping right about now.
Although, I had an audition today.
It was for a specific Stephen King movie called IT.
I had read almost all of Stephen King's books and when I heard that auditions were open for his new movie, I practically died.

I soon rolled out of bed, after checking my social media.
-
After washing up, I walked over to my closet, deciding on what to wear.
Not too fancy, but not too casual either.
I soon decided to go with a white lace dress, along with a light blue jean jacket.
I didn't want to look like I was trying too hard, so I just did my makeup lightly.
I then slipped on a pair of white converse and headed downstairs.
-
"Hi honey, breakfast?" My mom asked, smiling and pouring a cup of coffee.
"Um, not today mom. I think I'm too nervous to eat anything." I replied.
"Aw, don't be nervous sweetie. You're gonna do great!" Assured my mom, as she gave me a hug.
"Thanks mom." I smiled, pouring some orange juice.

"Ok you two should head out. Don't wanna be late, now do you?" My mom said.
"Nope." I replied as I walked to the front door.
"Ready?" Asked my dad.
"Ready as I'll ever be." I said.
We then said goodbye to my mom and got into the car.
The place that the audition was being held at wasn't too far, which was good.
Although, for most of the ride I just looked out of the window, trying to distract from my nervousness.
I guess my dad noticed because he then spoke up.
"It's gonna be alright Liz." He smiled, glancing at me, then turning his attention back to the road.
"Yeah I guess." I sighed.
"Be confident. It's not like anyone will be better than you." He said.
"Dad!" I yelled.
"What?? It's true!" He chuckled.
I just laughed along, shaking my head.
-
Once we got there, I stood in front of the huge building.
I closed my eyes, and took a deep breath before opening them again.
You got this Liz. You got this.

I walked into the building, and a worker showed us where the auditions would be taking place.
As I walked in, I instantly felt chills go down my spine.
There were a lot of kids there.
And when I say a lot, I mean a lot.
Lots of kids equal lots of competition.
"This isn't going to be easy." I said to Myself.
Just then a guy, who looked liked he'd be an assistant, came in.
"Attention everyone! Hello! I am Michael Andrews. Our director, Andy, will be calling your names to audition soon. For now, everyone please have a seat. Thank you." Then the man walked back into what seemed like the audition room.
I took a seat next to my dad, as Mr. Andrews told us to.
-
After about thirty minutes or so, one of the kids walked out.
He was kind of short, but seemed like he was my age. He looked very confident and had a big smile on his face as he approached someone, who I'm assuming, is his mother.
Then Mr. Andrews came back out again, holding a clipboard.
"Uhhhhh Elizabeth Walker please?" He called out, scanning the room.
Shit.
No, don't be nervous Liz. It'll be fine.
I smiled and got up from my seat, heading toward the man.
My father gave me a thumbs up and winked.
As I approached the audition room, my father's words kept replaying in my head.
"Be confident. It's not like anyone will be better than you."
I sighed at the thought of those words before focusing back on the audition.
"Uh hi. I'm Elizabeth Walker, and I'm auditioning for the role of Lilith Green." I spoke.
"Alright. Whenever your ready." The director, Andy, said leaning back in his chair.
-
After my audition, I had never felt so confident in my entire fourteen years of life.
Although I'm sure I stuttered a bit, I didn't mess up any lines, nor did I freeze up.
I thanked the nice men and confidently walked out of the room.
As I walked out, Mr. Andrews followed me with his clipboard, calling more names off the list.
"Uh next up is Jaeden Lieberher."

"How'd it go?" My dad asked as we put our seat belts on.
"It actually went really great." I smiled.
"I never had a doubt." My dad smiled back.

Now I just have to be patient and wait.
Just wait.
