[Two months later]
Everybody now knows about Min Hyun and my relationship. Both of us prefer privacy but there was no reason to hide our relationship. I was happy, as expected. If Min Hyun couldn't keep me happy, no one could. I was sitting next to him at lunch time. "Aigoo, seeing you two everyday makes me feel so sad. I want a boyfriend like Min Hyun," Go Eun complained while gulping down her juice.
I always noticed Samuel on his phone at lunch times, he's probably chatting with Lisa. I see them often on dates but I choose to ignore because I need to move on. "Honey, eat this." Min Hyun placed a broccoli on my plate. "You make me eat this and I'm not talking to you three days." I joked. I wasn't a fan of vegetables.
Min Hyun immediately took it back. "My honey always win over me." He gestured a crying pose that caused everyone to laugh except Samuel who had a straight serious face like he was fighting for something. "Is everything fine?" Hyeong Seop asked Samuel, noticing his grumpy mood as well. "Sorry guys, I have some urgent matters. I will see you all tomorrow." He said, pacing out of the restaurant.
"Probably he's fighting with Lisa again. I don't understand why he got back with her," Hyeong Seop groaned but quickly went back to eating. Min Hyun ignored the whole conversation. He doesn't really like to talk about Samuel and the reason was obvious.
I was walking back home since my dad's in meeting when I coincidentally ran into Samuel who came out of the convenience store. He looked really angry like he got into a fight. I was about to greet him when three buff guys came out of the same store holding bats. I wasn't in a drama, so technically I'm not that stupid to get into the fight. I hid in a dark corner and dialed the police. Only after that, I acted like I just saw them by now.
"Samuel!" I raised my voice enough so that the gangster-like guys heard me too. "Seo Eun ah, leave." Samuel was worried. But I focused on saving him, because he's my classmate. "Samuel, what are you doing here?" You casually asked while going near him. The most buff one, likely to be their boss signaled the one on the right. The right guy immediately clutched onto my arms, scratching it with his sharp iron ring.
"Police! Put your hands on your head! You're under arrest." Flashlights shown into the dark alley. They all ran away as the police went after them. "Are you okay?" Samuel worried ran towards me and examined my cut. "I'm fine Samuel." I just gave him a slight smile.
"No you're not, cmon. Let's fix this," we entered the convenience store and bought alcohol and plaster. He gently put it on me as I flinched, "Ouch!"
He giggled, "Sorry," It was very rare to see him smile like that ever since he got back with Lisa. After putting on the plaster, we decided to eat ramyun. "Wah, it's been a long time since I last ate this." Samuel said while slurping down the ramyun like he hasn't eat for days.
"Slow down, no one is chasing you." I said with a little bit sound of laughing. "Thank you Seo Eun ah, really. I would've been in a huge trouble if it wasn't for you." He stopped eating, looking at my eyes straight. I awkwardly looked away.
Suddenly, my phone started ringing, it was my dad. "Uh, I'm running late. I'll see you tomorrow." I quickly grabbed my backpack and left.
[Three weeks later]
I didn't ask more about that night. I pretended like it never happened, once again. I was with Go Eun at a kpop shop, fangirling BTS products. "Omg, Jin is so cute." I squealed as I was going through Jin's photo cards. "Indeed, wish I could meet him in real life." I said.
"Speaking of which, how's your relationship with Min Hyun?" She asked as we were queueing to pay. I just shrugged it off, "It's alright. You know he treats me well." I then took out the purse. "But you know, I think your heart still belongs somewhere else." She smirked, referring to Samuel.
"What? No. I moved on. Clearly, he's an asshole." I defended. She just smiled like I-know-you're-lying. "I'm serious," I rolled my eyes. "You can't lie to me Kang Seo Eun. But as your friend, I think you should be honest with your relationship. The sooner the better." She said.
That words took me into deep thoughts I didn't even realize we came to the end of the queue. "Miss," the shopkeeper said. "O-oh, here." I said, placing the items on the cashier. After we paid, we went to Lotteria.
"I was thinking," I started, drawing Go Eun's attention. "That you should break up? I agree." She said it so easily like choosing between coke and pepsi. "Not that serious!" I said, not wanting to break up. I'm not a cheap girl, not like Lisa. Besides, Min Hyun is very caring.
"Look, the point is I thought you could forget about that idiot if you're with Min Hyun, obviously you can't. You're lying to yourself and hurting the people around you. You're giving hopes of Min Hyun and it aint gonna be true. Imagine him finding out from someone else that's not you." She said.
Go Eun was right, she was too right I couldn't accept it. But I had to. Maybe pulling his relationship longer would hurt him in the end. And I can't just lie to myself and live like this forever. I came up with a decision... to break up.
