"Girls, we're here." My moms voice echoes in my mind as I gaze out the window at a castle like school.
"Woah. Nothing like American schools." Kenna's words speak for me. I nod my head. My mom parks the car and I climb out of the passenger seat. Kenna, who is always filled with energy, hops out of the backseat. We walk to the big doors at the center. My mom knocks on the door and almost immediately a man in a deep blue suit opens the door.
"Welcome! You guys are the Harrison's right?" He smiles and shakes our hands.
"Yes. I'm Mel, and these are my daughters who will be attending your school." My mom smiles at the man.
"It's a pleasure to meet you all. What are your names, girls?" He looks at Kenna.
"Hi. I'm Kenna." She waves.
"Hi Kenna. You have very nice hair." He smiles at her. Kenna has Chestnut hair which she always wears in braids. We have the same bottle green eyes, but I have a honey blonde shade of hair.
"Hey. I'm Graylee." I do a small wave.
"Nice to meet you Graylee. I'm Headmaster Benson." He nods his head. "Please follow me."
We walk into the school. There are high ceilings with hanging light fixtures, two staircases, one on each side of the entry, lockers lining the hallway, and from the view I have of the upstairs from the balcony, lockers line the halls up there too. Other hallways extend out of the main one, and there are big double doors at the end of each hall and single doors zig-zagged across each hall.
"Wow. This is wonderful!" Kenna jumps.
"Thank you. It's my pleasure that you can be here. Please continue to follow me." Headmaster Benson leads us to the first hall on the left.
"This hallway is all of the math classrooms. There are six classrooms per hallway. One for each grade, with a remedial classroom as well. " he leads us down to the double doors at the end of the math hall.
"These doors lead to the courtyard. You are allowed to be out here to study, chat during free time, and read. See that big building at the other end of the courtyard? Those are the girls dorms. To the left of that is another big building where the boys dorms are." He turns around and we follow. We walk all the way down to the hallway across from the math hall.
"This hall is the science hall. Like I said for the math hall, there are six classes, one per grade and one remedial class. These doors-" he opens the double doors and we step outside." Lead to the forest. You are only allowed in the forest for science projects and classes." He turns around and we follow him back inside. We turn down the main hallway and head to the end.
"This is the Dining Hall. You are to eat your main meals here, and there are vending machines around campus if you need snacks." The dining hall is a big room with twenty circular tables. There are ten chairs per table. We exit the dining hall.
"As you can see there are two double doors on each corner here before the dining hall. On the left-" he gestures to the left side double doors. "Is the janitors quarters. On the right is the cooks quarters. After this tour, I will tell you which dorms you are in and you are allowed to go in there to see what it is like." We walk back to the front of the school and head up the staircase on the left side.
"Left is for going up, right is for going down." He lectures. We walk down the left hallway.
"This is the History Hall. Same as the others, yet at the doors it is a glass enclosed balcony."
We walk to the other hall.
"And this is the English hall. The double doors lead to another enclosed balcony." He smiles. We follow him down the main upstairs hall where there are three more double doors, just like downstairs.
"Same as downstairs, But the center door is the Library." He smiles and lets us explore the grand room.
After we've explored, he says that Kenna's dorm is 107, on the first floor. Mine is 315 on the second floor.
"Thank you Headmaster!" My mother calls to him and we wave and walk to the girls dorms. He waves to us as we walk down the stairs and out towards the girls dorms. We stop at Kenna's dorm first. There is one bed on either side of the big window. The room isn't very cramped. A door leads to the bathroom which leads to another room exactly like Kenna's.
"I like it. It's quite big and I have a desk, a closet, a nice bed and a window seat!" Kenna smiles. I imagine my room looks like an exact replica of hers. We walk out of Kenna's room and walk to the entrance where the staircase to upstairs is. I find my room but I don't bother to go in for I can do that tomorrow.
---
"Night Mom and Kenna!" I yell from my bed and they respond with a quick night as we tuck ourselves in bed , for tomorrow is a big day.
