His eyes bore into her soul, searching every inch of her, feeling every emotion.
"You're wearing a mask."
"No I'm not. I hate fake smiles. It's number one on my hate list actually because smiles are genuine. They're supposed to brighten someone's day. A token of happiness, of gratitude and that can never be faked."
"I never accused your happiness was forged. You're simply wearing a mask. Even if you don't mean to. Sometimes you want to crumble into a corner and cry your heart out over the one you lost and sometimes you're fine and you feel genuinely happy. But your pain of grief is still fresh and raw and it will take you on many emotional adventures and your happiness is your mask. Even if it is real."All she could do was stare at him. While the sounds of joyous laughter and music were ringing all around them children running with shrieks of laughter but she heard nothing.
Saw nothing.
Only him.
And the sky had darkened, those shades of gray and blue had turned into black and the stars began to sparkle.
And the moon was their spotlight.
And the sparks of fire began to dance in their eyes.
And it clicked into place.Because he was the only one.
The only one who saw through her mask.
