No one will ever understand her. They never understood her, what everything was like for her and instead mocked her for it. But this time she didn't care because the one person that did understand her was by her side. And that was enough.

It was the day. She had to find a way to confess her feelings to him today. It was a perfect day. The first snowfall of the year was set to be today and under the snowfall she would tell him. As the day progressed the butterflies in her stomach kept fluttering and fluttering so much that she couldn't wait to meet him.

**************

The day had finally escaped leaving behind twinkling city lights and shooting stars behind. She was to meet him at the intersection while he came from work. Spotting him at the end of the road she waved her hands and ran across the road to him where they met in the middle.
"I have to tell you something."
"Okay, let's go into the restaurant and you can say it, it's cold here." He reached for her hand but she held her foot firm.
"No, it had to be said here and now underneath the first snowfall."
The first flurry of snowflakes gently fell from the sky circling each other ever so delicately before finally touching the ground. She reached up and pulled him by the jacket pouring her lips over his. His eyes became wide just before they fluttered close as he cupped her face. The snowflakes caressing their faces with frozen kisses from above. The wailing sound of the police siren in the distance became closer and closer as they released each other.

The blinding light of the rogue car was all she saw before he pushed her out of the way.

There was a crash.

And she could have sworn it was her heart that broke first.

His lifeless corpse lay sprawled on the floor, the white blanket of snow being stained in a pool of blood. She ran to him her heart hammering in her chest.

No, it couldn't be happening. Not again.

She screamed as she lifted his smashed body into her lap.

"I love you." He whispered his voice trembling, falling apart.
"I love you too." Her sobs drowning out the sound of everything and everyone else.
She heard it loud and clear as day. His last word.
"Live."

And so she saw the last puff of cold air escape his frost bitten lips as his he blew his last breath.
