Today is the day. Today is the day that I'm going to leave everything behind. My friends, my school, my life. This is where I grew up, and now everything is going to change. "Mom, Dad why are we moving again?" I asked my parents really wanting to stay in this town. "Sweetie, you know why already. Your father got a better job opportunity over there in California." My mom said. "Lacy this is going to be better for us. I know your going to miss your friends here in New York, but trust me, this is for the best." My dad said with a look of sympathy on his face. "I know." I sighed. "Im just gonna miss it here, you know?" I said. "I know it's going to be hard to leave all this behind, but you will get through it. I promise" My dad said. "I hope so." I said putting the last box in the moving truck. I took one last look at this house and then finally got in the car with my parents.
As we were driving to the airport, I got a text from my friend, Amanda.
Amanda: Lacy, girl are you on your way to Cali now? 😭
Lacy: Yeah I am. I really am going to miss you so much.
Amanda: At least we got to spend the summer together. There are only a couple weeks left till school starts up again.
Lacy: Yeah, your right. But now I'm going to have to start over at a new school. Junior year is going to be hard enough alone. Now I have to worry about being the "new girl".
Amanda: Don't worry you'll be fine.
"Were here" My mom said
Lacy: Alright. Well I gtg now. I'm at the airport.
I put my phone away as we entered the airport. I took my small bag of belongings with me. All my other things were packed up in boxes being shipped to the new house right now. We made our way threw the security and now we are waiting to be called for our flight. "Lacy, are you exited to be going to a new school?" My mom asked trying to make small talk. "I guess so." I said "Don't worry, your going to love it there." My mother said to me. "I am a little exited I will admit going to California." I said giving my mom a half-smile "See? now that's the spirit!" My dad said excitedly. My mother and I just chucked at my dad's craziness.
"Flight 263 please begin boarding" The voice form the speaker said. Finally, I thought. We have been waiting for quite a while now. We boarded the plane. I got comfortable for the long flight ahead of us.
