***Brienne's P.O.V***
"We have company."
As soon as those words left Lucas' mouth, I heard multiple pairs of feet hitting the ground around us. I looked around but found no one and nothing near us.
"Brianne? You look...different?" Rachel said, studying my face.
"What are you talking about?" I asked, very confused.
"You both need to climb a tree. Now." Lucas said sternly.
"Excuse me?" Rachel said.
"Up a tree, now." Lucas shot her a warning glance when she opened her mouth again and she immediately shut it.
I looked around at the trees and found a few that we could climb. Living in a place surrounded by trees, all you could do was climb them. Luckily for us, most of the branches on these trees were low enough that we could jump and grab them. Rachel rushed over to me and I helped her up a tree, giving her a boost. She climbed up carefully and I followed her until we were high enough to not be seen.
I started to hear the footsteps again and stopped breathing completely. Not a moment later, a huge puma and two foxes stopped ten feet away from Lucas. They all seemed to stare each other down before the three creatures branched off together. They all came back a moment later, fully dressed.
I hadn't thought about it until now, but Lucas walked out of the forest fully clothed. But when Lucas shifted last night, he had stripped his clothes off.
What I assumed was the large puma was the man in the middle. And he was gorgeous. He had pitch black hair and sharp facial features. But what shocked me the most was his eyes, they were a very light blue, almost gray color. They were piercing.
The other two people behind him were of opposite sex. The female had a full head of stark red hair. She had to be about 5'6 and I could tell she didn't take anyone's crap. The guy standing next to her had to be her brother. They both had the same shade of red hair, same features, same bright green eyes, but somehow, he seemed a lot softer than the girl.
"Where is she?" the man with pitch black hair asked. His voice was deep and thick like honey.
"Whom?" Lucas asked.
"The Shifter."
"I'm a Shifter. How do you know you're not looking for me?"
"Because you don't look like a girl."
"Looks can be deceiving." Lucas smiled.
"This is no laughing matter, I was sent to come collect the girl from her home. But when I got there, she was gone. But I found her scent at the back of the house. I can smell her on you."
My eyes widened, glancing at Rachel she had the same expression. Were they talking about me? I'm not a shifter, I couldn't be.
"Where is Brienne?" the man suddenly demanded in a very loud and demanding voice.
His voice scared me, my arm slipped from the branch I was holding onto and I fell. I spotted a large branch under me to the left and as I fell past it, I grabbed it and yelled in pain. The sudden force caused my shoulders to jerk painfully in their sockets and a nickel sized piece of wood had stabbed through my hand.
I bit my lip hard enough to draw blood to stop from screaming. Everything was silent now. I looked down and saw the mysterious man looking up at me, smiling. The two foxes had blocked Lucas from coming towards him and getting to me. I looked up at Rachel and she was already on her way down the tree to get me.
