"Mom! I'm going out!" Fang shouted and closed the castle door behind her.
Even though the door was closed, she heard her mom shout, "okay Fang!"
Fang sighed and rolled her eyes. She cursed under her breath for having such an awful name. What kind of parents give their daughter the name Fang. #1, it's a boys name and #2 it's a pet name. Even though Fang has never been made fun of for her name, probably because she doesn't really have any friends and she is a princess, she still lied about her name.
She told everyone her name was Star.
Fang ran into the woods, she always felt completely different in the woods, she didn't feel like Fang Butterfly, she felt like Star Butterfly. She felt like a completely different person, like someone else from a crossed universe was there with her, but they were her too.
Fang climbed a tree, the tree her best friend lived in. "Opal?" Fang called. Opal was the only person that knew Fang's real name, but called her Star anyway, unless she was 100% sure they were alone.
Within moments Opal popped her head out of a pile of leads in the tree. "Star! I haven't seen you in forever!" Opal said and jumped off a brach and landed on the lowest branch in the tree. "What gives?"
Fang sighed. "I have been busy," Fang lied. The real truth, was that she was depressed. Her her mother, Moon, had said she was too immature to be a princess and that Fang found of Moon was pregnant, all Fang did was think. If Moon made the new baby princess, Fang would be nothing but a memory to the kingdom. But Fang didn't want to tell Opal, she didn't even want to think about it anymore.
"I can see that, since you're a princess," Opal said. She pushed her hair over her light gray goat ears and fixed her 'jump suit.' Opal was a runaway, she ran away from home years ago, when they were both ten. So four years ago. Fang promised not to tell anyone, she knew how bad it was for Opal at home. Opal's parents never let her and Fang see each other since her was a princess and Opal's parents don't like royalty. Then suddenly Opal sighed and turned to Fang.
"Fang..." Opal said, without even making sure anyone was near. "I'm thinking about turning 21."
Fang was frozen, why would Opal want to become older? Doesn't she want to live her life? "O-Opal what are you talking about?"
"I'm sick of making sure my parents don't find me, or my kingdom. If I'm at least 21 they can't find me. I've decided I'm going to steal some Magimus from an old store in town later," Opal said. Magimus was a potion that made you older, all you had to do was drink it and think of a number, and that number was how old you'd become. But it was dangerous and only 39% percent of people that used it are satisfied.
"You can't make yourself older! What about us? I don't have any other friends!" Fang cried. She did, and she knew that, but they weren't as special as Opal. Even though she was Part goat with long red hair, Opal was everything to Fang. Like a twin sister Moon never had.
"In sorry Fang. But I know my kingdom will find me, they started a search again and during the Royal Meeting, I spied on everyone and they're going to look for me in every kingdom! I need to hide, I need to be older, at least I'll look different then," Opal said, then she jumped to the ground and so did Fang.
"But you can't leave! You don't understand! Maybe if you told them what was going on at home-"
"Your kingdom isn't like mine, Fang! There aren't as many rights for women as there is here," Opal kicked a rock. Then she pulled a bag out of a bush and bush. "I'm leaving tonight. So you can see me before then," then Opal walked away.

Life sucks. Everything sucks. Fang spent the next half hour kicking trees and throwing rocks and cursing. Everything was being taken away from her, her friend, her throne, her confidence. She hates everything about herself. Her name, her long gray tail, her mom, everything. She wished Moon married that man that tried to kill Toffee just to marry Moon. But it didn't work.
What if Toffee really did die? Who would take Fang's place?
After hours of thinking, Fang headed back to the castle, she ignored Moon talking to the guards about Opal, how she wanted them to look for her. Either way, if the guards found her or not, Opal was going to be ripped out of Fang's life.
"Princess Fang!" A voice called.
Fang hissed through her sharp teeth and turned around. It was Tom, the hot head demon-like boy that wanted 'Fang's hand' as in he wanted to date her.
"What?" Fang hissed. "I'm busy."
"Princess Fang, would you like to go to the biggest party of all the dimensions with me? I promise you, it'll be fun!"
Fang rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. She couldn't be mean to Tom, her parents, especially Moon has been begging Fang to date/marry Tom for months. While Toffee just simply talked to her, only tell Fang the pros of Tom and not the Cons.
Pros: Tom is usually well dressed and is nice and patient with Fang. Tom doesn't know Fang's real name. He isn't looking at any other girls.
Cons: he gets angry easily, he lives in a world Fang can't stand. He's always annoying Fang.
Fang rubbed her really light blue hair, a little lighter than Moon's and turned around to face Tom. "I guess so," Fang replied.
"Great! I'll meet you tomorrow night at 7-" but Fang had already started walking down the hallway.
Any yet again, Fang was called by someone else.
"Princess Fan-"
"What what what!" Fang snapped, she turned around and faced one of the guards and knew what the question was going to be. "I haven't seen Opal in years dammit! And it's always going to be the same answer, it always has been for four years!"
"That's not the question. I'm actually going to give you a fact. Opal had been found in our kingdom!" The guard said.
"WHAT?!" I cried. I ran passed the guard and pushed the castle doors open. "Where is she?!" I cried.
The guard caught up with Fang. "She's in the Extra Room."
Fang turned around and made a sharp right. The extra room was a room that was nothing but emptiness, and Moon and Toffee decided to use it for meetings or anything extra. Fang opened the door and saw three guards, Toffee and Moon, and Opal. Six chairs had been placed, three on both sides of a long wooden table.
"Fang, come have a seat," Toffee said.
Fang took a deep breath as Opal and Fang shared glances. "How did... you find her?" I asked.
"She was out in the open, just walking around. She was heading downtown," one of the guards said, then he turned to Toffee and Moon. "Her parents will be notified shortly."
Opal sighed and looked down at the table. Fang knew Opal would be miserable at home, Fang wanted to do something. She needed to do something. Fang glared at Opal until Opal looked at her. Fang rocked back and forth on her feet, and shuffled around a bit.
"Princess, do you need to go to the lady's room?" One of the guards asked, and Toffee gave the guard an evil look, which meant, don't talk to my daughter like that. The guard looked away.
"I don't, I'm not anxious," Fang said, then stared at Opal. And Opal understand what Fang was trying to say.
"Uh, actually, may I go to the bathroom?" Opal asked.
There was a long pause. "Yes Opal, Fang darling, will you show Opal where the bathroom is?" Toffee asked. But there was a look in Toffee's eyes that made Fang relaxed. As if she could shout, I'M GOING TO HIDE OPAL out loud and he wouldn't mind. Did he knew what Fang was doing? Did he really know his daughter that well?"
"Yes Dad," Fang said and took Opal's hang and together they walked out of the room.
"Thanks," Opal said. "Now let's go get that Maximus."
"That's not why I took you out of there! I'm going to hide you, Opal. And this time nobody will find you," Fang said.
"You don't get it do you?" Opal said. "I don't want to hide anymore, I want to be free."
"You can be," a voice said from behind them. Fang and Opal quickly turned around and saw Toffee standing above them, holding dimensional scissors in his hand. He held it out of Fang and made a small smile.
Fang slowly took the scissors and examined them. "I don't understand-"
"I know you and Opal are like twin sisters. You can't live without each other. Fang, do you think I didn't know Opal was in the woods this whole time?" Toffee asked. "Those scissors can take you in any dimension. I want you two to use it to hide both of you from the guards."
"Wait, what are you saying?" Opal asked.
Toffee sighed. "I want you two to- run away. But technically you, Fang. I want you to return to the castle here and there. But make sure you hide Opal, in a place she'll be happy in," then Toffee sighed and put his hands behind her back. "I know you aren't happy here, Fang. Everyone here bothers you and you hate it. I want you to be in a place where you're happy. And I want you to find that place, find it, and when you think you're ready, come back here and I'll give you your wand."
Fang took in all of the information, and all she could do was nod.
