Chapter 4: Late Night

as I read Farkle's text I dropped my phone......

Riley's P.O.V.

I picked my phone up off the ground quickly, and briskly walked too my closet. I grabbed a jacket and headed out the Bay window. I climbed down the creaky latter of my fire escape, as I reached the bottom, I slightly pushed of landing onto the ground. I speed walked in the direction of the subway, trying not to walk into anybody. not caring that I was still wearing my sleep clothes.

after I finally reached the subway station, I put both hands on my knees leaning over to catch my breath, a few people looked my way I just ignored them. I stood back up as the train stopped letting passengers in and out, I stepped on quickly trying not to be knocked over by the other passengers. I sat down on the seat closest to the door. as the rest of the passengers took their seats, the doors closed. I pulled my phone out checking the time [8:38] it was late, I hoped that my parents didn't notice I was gone. I tapped my foot anxious to talk to Farkle, as I re-read the text he had sent me 

'Riley you need to get here now! it's an emergency!' I hoped that the boy genius was okay.

as the train reached it's stop I stood up walking out into the crowded station, I looked around for second until I spotted the exit. I walked toward it in a hurry to get to Farkle's apartment, as I walked out into the city I noticed Farkle's apartment building and started walking in that direction.

It was a short walk from were I was but I was still almost running since it's not really safe to be outside at night in New York city. I finally reached the apartment building, I walked over to the call box and buzzed in 

"it's Riley" I stated, 

"come on up" I heard Farkle's voice tell me through the speaker. I went into the elevator and pressed the button for the penthouse.

after I got to the right floor I stepped out of the elevator into my friends apartment. and the moment walked into the house Farkle was practically dragging me back to his room, once we reached his room I pulled my arm from his tight grip 

"okay Farkle what did you need me to come all the way over to your house for?" I asked turning toward him. 

"well" he started, walking toward the desk in his room "I was thinking about Maya, and trying to figure out if there was anywhere she went or anyone who might know where she is." he says looking at me I nod 

"okay is that all you had me come here for?" I ask slightly annoyed, 

"no let me finish" he said holding his hand up noticing my annoyance. I nodded my head motioning for him to continue, he looked around on his desk for a second until he picked something up, he held it up. It was a watch "this watch has a tracking chip in it" Farkle stated proudly, I just looked at him weirdly not understanding what he was saying.

He noticed my confused expression and tried to explain 

"well basically this watch can track Maya." he stated simply 

"what really!" I asked excited 

"yeah, it can I just need to get a new battery for it" he said looking at the dead watch, I just looked at the watch excited to find my best friend. 

"Hold on" I said looking at Farkle "how does it even track Maya" I asked confused. he looked down sheepishly a light blush covering his cheeks, clearing his throat awkwardly 

"well how about we go find that battery, yeah?" he said dodging my question. 

"okay" I replied still confused.

after about an hour of looking I had to go home before my parents noticed I was gone. 

"okay I'll talk to you later Riley" Farkle said walking me out to the front of the apartment building. 

"bye Farkle" I waved walking away.

As I climbed back into my house through the bay window, I gave a sigh of relief I had not been caught. I checked the time my clock read [1:49] wow I have been out for a while, I thought taking off my jacket, I just tossed somewhere in my room too tired to care. and as soon as my head it the pillow I was out.

I was woken by my mom shaking me, 

"Riley wake up." my mom said I sat up rubbing the sleep out of my eyes 

"what do you want" I yawned 

"someone wants to talk to you" she said holding the phone out towards me. I grabbed the phone holding it up to my ear 

"hi?" I said into the phone 

"Hey, Riley" It was Lucas 

"oh, hey Lucas what do you need" I asked not really sure why he didn't call my cell phone 

"I was wondering if you wanted to go to the park today?" he asked. I thought about it for a moment, I really don't feel like doing anything but I haven't hung out with Lucas in awhile. 

"okay, what time?" I ask agreeing to hanging out with him. 

"um, I was thinking like one or two whatever works for you." I thought for a second "can you pick me up at 1:30?" I said 

"yeah sure" he said agreeing to the time. 

"alright well i'll see you later" I said into the phone 

"okay bye." he said hanging up.

I got up grabbed some clothes and headed to the shower, after I was clean I brushed my teeth and dried my hair. and headed into the kitchen where my family was eating breakfast. I sat down with them not really feeling hungry, I never felt hungry anymore. I just got an apple so that my parents didn't get on my case about not eating, I silently listened to my little brother tell my parents about some new friend he made, I miss being that young. everything was so much easier then, I sighed at the thought.

after breakfast I just watched Red planet diaries until I heard a knock at the door, I opened it and there stood Lucas 

"ready to go?" he asked 

"yeah." I replied stepping into the hallway with him and closing the door. 

"alright, let's go!" he said clapping his hands. 

"okay." I said as we started walking to the exit of my apartment building. This is going to be a long day! I thought as we walked out onto the sidewalk.....

Hello I hope you liked this chapter I was going to put this out tomorrow, but It's taken me soo long to get this chapter out so I decided to put it out today. I hope none of you mind that I took a little break, I just haven't been feeling too good but I feel a lot better now. anyways I know that my writing sucks but I hope you enjoyed this chapter, Thank you for reading. have a magnificent day!
