I ran through the red and orange hallway, pausing only to hit the button at the other end. I stopped, trying to catch my breath, and walked through the heavy iron door. Or rather, tried. The door slammed in my face, propelling me backwards.

"Goddamn doors, can never work them. We need pressure plates or something. What do you think guys?"

I stopped myself. I wasn't recording! I sighed, already missing home. Trying once more, I pushed the cold stone button and walked through. As I was thrown backwards again, I was ready, if at all possible, to ragequit.

Realising that there was something on top of me, I opened my eyes and slowly raised my sword. When I looked up, I found myself staring into a distinctly dog-like skull. As the skeleton dog nudged me, as if trying to lick me, I couldn't help but laugh. Standing up, I patted my old friend's head and fished in my pockets for some sort of meat. Finding only rotten flesh, I winced at the squishy, disgusting lump. He didn't even wait until I had held it out to him, already bounding around like a puppy. I had forgotten it was his favourite food. Throwing it on the ground for him, I thought about the first time I had 'met' who would become my best friend.

*Le flashback because, plot twist, I'm a Time Lord*

"Grim!"

I yelled, fighting back about twenty zombies.

"Grim, where are you?!"

I was starting to worry. He wouldn't abandon me, would he? Not during the battle against Denton? Was he... No, Grim wouldn't give up that easily. Dodging arrows from a skeleton, I swung my diamond sword, slicing the mob in half, and ran towards the main room. The room with the nuke, aimed towards the TDEmpire. I was really worried now.

"GRIM!"

He wasn't dead, he wasn't dead, he wasn't dead... Every time I said it, it seemed less and less likely. I had to leave him, it was too dangerous. I overrode the coordinates and locked the bomb in position. I checked the time I had. Breaking through the firewalls had reduced the time immensely, I now had three out of the original fifteen minutes. I sped out of the emerald-lined room, calling one last time for Grim. Suddenly, I saw him tackling a skeleton, pulling it apart.

One minute. I shouted for Grim, telling him to leave the mob and run. But he seemed content destroying the monster. The ground rumbled and I heard the alert sound. Jumping into a river nearby the compound, I saw the mushroom cloud rise and a huge explosion broke through the silence of the peaceful forest. I could only stand there as the tears filled my eyes, the thought of another lost friend was too much. So many had gone... And it was all Denton's fault. He had set up the bomb to destroy all of my empire, radiating and mutating whatever survived. All because he had got too cocky and set me up.

*Oh, another time skip :3*

Checking the area for any more radiation, I returned to Denton's now ruined base, searching for any sign of Grim. Had he got out in time? I swallowed and closed my eyes. He was such a good dog, never leaving my side. He had always been different to the other wolves, his coat slightly reddish and a much more carefree attitude.

I froze. There was something barking behind me. Am I imagining things? I turned slowly and nearly cried at what I saw. His red coat was no more, his piercing blue eyes were just empty husks. But I knew it was his bark, the bark of a once beautiful wolf, now an undead skeleton dog. He whined, aware of the obvious, worried if I still loved him.

I sped over to him and hugged him, relieved that he wasn't fully dead. I threw him nearly half a stack of his favourite food, chicken, and looked around the wreckage. But he seemed to be nudging my pocket at something else to eat.

"All I have is rotten flesh. You're not seriously going to eat that?"

He whined again, as if agreeing. Tired, confused and relieved, I threw the gross stuff on the floor for him. He ate it all in a blink. I guess it made sense, rotten flesh for a skeleton dog. And the name Grim suited him well, before I only called him that because of his red coat. Patting him on the head I smiled.

"Come on Grim, we have a Gravestone Mod to review."

*Back to the future, bc reference*

Looking down at one of my most valued friends, I attempted the iron door again.

"Come on Grim, we need to catch up with Trayaurus."
