I sat in bed the following morning, it was a sunny and all around pretty day but yet I was here. Sitting on my bed, looking at the paper with my orders on it. I was staring at the picture of Freya they had. It was a blurry picture, probably taken from one of the newspapers or something. I took a deep breath, I still had a little over two months to complete my orders so why am I so worried?
I think I'm more worried about why I even started this job... I don't need the money, I have the shop for that. I became an assassin because of the thrill, the thought of someone's life was in my control. And I loved it... and that's what scares me... how could someone ever get close to me if they knew what kind of a monster I am...
I shook my head and put the orders back under my pillow. I scooted out of bed and got dressed, walking downstairs to open up the shop.
After I officially opened up I sat down behind the counter and waited, usually Freya comes in about 10 minutes after I open up so I usually just sit and wait.
Ten minutes passed, no Freya. 20 minutes, nothing. I was growing worried but quickly shook it off, she is a princess after all. She has to have some sort of duties. I shrugged and looked down at the inventory list I was supposed to be working on. I grabbed a pencil and started to write in it when I heard the bells for the door ring. I looked up to see an out of breath Freya standing in the doorway.
"Hello princess." I chimed, resting my chin on my crossed fingers "thought you might have forgotten about me."
"Never Aleah!! I can't bare a day of not getting to see you..." She said the last bit in a whisper so I didn't really catch it but I'm pretty sure I knew what she was saying.
She stood still, I could practically see the gears in her head grinding. What was she thinking about..?
"Aleah...can I stay here for a while?" She asked which completely took my off guard.
"I don't want to go home, I don't know anyone else here in the village except you..." she added.
I relaxed a little, trouble in paradise? I thought to myself but shrugged it off.
"Do as you please princess." I replied, looking back down at the inventory list.
"Thank you Aleah!!" She exclaimed happily as she started to glance around the store "Where's Benjamin?"
"Right here my lady." He speaks from below her, She smiled more as she talked to him.
"Is there anything I can do to help around here?" She asked him, I glanced up from my list a little bit.
"If you like,Freya, you can dust the smaller weapons by Aleah." He replied as he handed her a small rag and slithered away back to his "patrolling."
I watched her walk over to the rack and take a dagger down from the rack as she began cleaning it. She stopped and stared at it for a few minutes, obviously thinking about something. Maybe she wants it? I think a princess should at least have one weapon on them at all time, they should be able to fight.
Taking glances at Freya I could tell she wasn't the fighting type though. More of the "find a peaceful solution" type. She didn't carry a weapon, probably overprotective parents. I went back to my list so it didn't look like I was staring.
She was certainly a strange one. I kept coming back to my orders though... why am I faltering so much with this one..? I've never had this trouble before...
I glanced back over to Freya who was not hugging the dagger. What's going through her mind right now?
All I know is that if she wanted to be safe, she needed to stay away from me. And for some reason she is drawn to me...
