"Lux?" I whispered.

"Hmm?" She groaned in the dimness of the room.

"I'm sorry, were you sleeping?"

"It's fine, what is it though?"

"Where would you like me to sleep?" I asked.

A pause circled through the air, stalling time itself. I waited anxiously for the answer, my body tired and worn from the long journey and terror infusing meeting with her pack. I waited patiently though.

"You could sleep with me. . ." She said softly, the offer hanging in midair.

"With you?" I repeated.

She nodded, her outline faint in the flickering of candlelight. "You can if you want to." Her voice held a hopeful lit to it.

A prickle of fear coursed through me. The offer was a dangerous one, something that Alpha's gave out when their boredom and frustration gave in. If I accepted her offer though, what would that mean for me? Would I be given a life of luxury before being tossed aside for a newer Omega? Did she really mean just sleep or was she thinking of what I was thinking?

"Can I be excused to take a walk Alpha?" I squeaked, my hands shaking visibly.

"I told you to call me Lux." She frowned and leaned close.

"So sorry Lux." I shuffled back.

"You can take a walk, be sure Ivor is with you." She jerked back suddenly, a look of hurt and annoyance on her face.

"Thank you." I skittered off the bed towards the door.

I took a deep breath, sliding against the door as I stepped into the hallway. I tucked my knees against my chest and looked around. I had no clue were Ivor might be and I had no desire to disturb him. Standing back up, I decided to wander the hallways. I hoped to meet a friendly face, preferably one of the Omega's from my pack.

The floors were made of stone as well as the walls, giving the whole corridor a freezing atmosphere.Various other doors were lined on the sides, some of them empty while others had occupants. I jumped as one door opened, revealing the woman who Ivor had been holding.

I froze, waiting for her to notice me or brush past me like others did. Now that I was up close to her though I noticed her features. She was definitely older than Lux. Her hair was done in a braid, silver streaks peeking through brown. Her features though were slightly marred, three parallel scars slashing across her face. I could tell though that she was still good looking.

Her owl like eyes flickered over me, a flash of recognition going through them. She smiled, unlike most smiles I had seen this one reached her golden eyes. She took a step forwards.

"Hello, Cyra." Her voice was strong yet pleasant.

"Hello." I stuttered, ducking my head nervously.

"There's no need to be nervous, perhaps you don't know me? I'm Saskia, Ivor's mate." She chattered, hooking her arm through mine.

"I saw you earlier, were all the children yours?" I asked, letting her lead me down the hall.

"Yes they were, we have six of the little rascals. In fact, I'm going out to find them, would you care to join me?"

"Sure, I've never really been around kids though," I said nervously.

"What? That's impossible, you mean you've never had the joy of being around the munchkins?" She exclaimed.

"No, the pack doesn't let the pups associate with us," I replied.

"Oh. . ." She trailed.

We walked in silence after that. Our footsteps silenced by the uproar that reverberated through the walls. The floor turned from stone to pine wood as we walked into a large den. Couches and chairs were draped in fur and covered with people. Various social rankings lounged around, happily chatting. A few pups sat on the floor playing with their toys.

A few heads turned towards us, then went back to their talk. We walked through the throng of people, some of their eyes narrowing in confusion as they saw me. The talk around us died down into suspicious whispering.

"Um, Saskia I don't think I should be here," I whispered, tugging away.

"What? That's nonsense! Here, could you hold Tulip for me?" She turned around to reveal a small girl in her arms. She handed the pup to me before walking a few feet away.

I stood there awkwardly, holding the little pup in my arms. I glanced down and gave her an uneasy smile. She flashed a grin back, revealing her tiny sharp teeth. I shifted her weight in my arms. She couldn't have been more than a year old yet she made me more nervous than the full grown wolves around me.

She gurgled, reaching for my hair. Her chubby fist clutched the fiery locks and tugged on them. I grunted slightly in pain and looked back down at her, my nose wrinkled. She gurgled again and let go of my hair, patting my nose.

"Thank you so much for holding her."

Saskia suddenly appeared again. She was holding three more children, these ones being even younger than Tulip. Two more hung around her hip, looking around the ages of five and seven. I blinked when I realized they were all boys.

"I can hold her on the way back." I offered.

"Really? Thank you so much!" She squealed happily.

"It's no problem," I assured.

I picked my way through the crowd and let out a relieved sigh as my feet hit the cool stone flooring of the hallway. I readjusted Tulip in my arm and watched in amazement as Saskia walked through with grace and agility despite the cooing triplets in her arms and the two children clinging tight to her.

"Do you remember the way?" She asked, slipping past me.

"No," I mumbled, slightly ashamed of my terrible sense of direction.

"It's okay, this place can be a maze sometimes." She said cheerily.

I followed after her, my footsteps loud and clumsy compared to hers. I was beginning to wonder if the silent footsteps were something they were born with instead of learned. It seemed even the children knew how to mask the sounds of their footsteps.

I skittered to a stop as she halted suddenly, without my realization we had made it back to our starting point. She opened the door walked in, glancing back at me.

"Are you coming?"

"Yes," I said.
