I told Anthony what happened. We decided we're going to be more careful if we want to continue seeing each other. Of course that didn't stop him from secretly picking me up from school everyday. I don't feel so embarrassed when he goes in to make out with me when he shows up anymore. It might've caused some talk - for one thing, Ashley has been keeping some sort of distance which is kind of hurtful, and I don't see Ethan anymore. I don't know how I feel about that, but I can't afford Anthony being jealous. I'm really starting to like him.
The only problem with today is that Mom says she's picking me up from school, last minute. She got her driver's licence, and she wants to get her hours up. I didn't have time to call and warn Anthony, so I'm scared how this is going to go down.
I walk out of the gate, and see my mom's red car on the side of the school. I also see Anthony approaching me at the same time, grabbing me instantly by the small of my back and planting a sloppy kiss on my cheek.
"Anthony," I said quietly, pushing him off.
"What is it baby?"
"My mom's here." I point behind me.
He peers over my shoulder and I said, "Don't look!"
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't have time."
"Just, go. Tell her I was saying hi."
I turn around awkwardly, walking to Mom's car, getting in the passenger side.
"Hi," I said.
"How was school?" she asks slowly, eyeing Anthony who's now walking away.
"Good. Godly. I learnt about a lot of amazing things in bible study, today," I said trying to distract her.
"Uh huh. What's he doing here?" she asks.
"He was just saying hi."
She looks at me and says, "You're telling the truth?"
I nod. I tighten my high ponytail some more, trying my best to not sound like I'm lying. Little distractions, I remind myself about. It's the little ones that count.
"Might I say Mom, you're getting better and better at driving."
She finally takes her eyes off of him and said, "Well, guess we better get going." She starts up the car.
