Chapter 26

The sterilized smell of the hospital has been the primary smell I've had to deal with for the last two hours.
I was in a wheelchair being wheeled around the hospital by Lucas to go to all of my doctor appointments.

We were on our ways to X-rays going through different areas in the hospital. There wasn't much communication besides me squealing when ever he got to close to steering me into a wall.

Sooner than later we came to the waiting area for X-rays. He parked my wheelchair before going to sign me in.

"I better be owning some brother credit for being your personal slave all day with this basted wheelchair" Luke chuckled, grabbing a magazine off a table not even caring that it was a female hygiene magazine.

After what felt like hours a lady called my name signaling Lucas to wheel back. Luke wheeled me to the room before giving a brief goodbye before heading towards the waiting room.

I laid down on a god uncomfortable bed waiting to be moved. The lady briskly moved my legs and arms making me cry out in pain which didn't even phase her.

The pain was excruciating and made minutes feel like hours. "Miss your all done, I got X-rays of your arms and legs and now your going to your normal doctor to discuss everything" she said wheeling me out leaving me with Luke.

"I'm not going to even ask how it went because I can tell you've been crying and I know we have at least one more appointment and I know your probably pissed, so let's just get this over with.

I gave him a tired smile, I began to block everything out as we went through the hospital. The slightly familiar face of an older man came into view as we were in another different room. He was talking and I could hear him, I just wasn't listening.

The appointment was a blur. My body was shooting in pain but I held it in not wanting to be looked at like I have been ever since the accident.

"Reece, how was the doctors" My Mom asked her words trailing off when she see's Lucas take the wheelchair.

"It's only temporary Mom, she needs to let her legs heal without putting weight on either" Luke said pushing me up the driveway into the house.

I was silent as I have been since we left the hospital but focused my attention on the two blue casts on my legs.

I knew they were waiting for me to say anything, but I couldn't I just felt drained.

Luke helped to my room and left me be when I realized he was there. Charlie was standing there, looking at me in shock.

"I came over t-to hang out after your doctors appointments, I um, I brought a bag full snacks, some Chinese takeout and some movies. But if you know, want to be alone I understand" Charlie said stuttering on his words.

"That sounds amazing Charlie, but I need some help to get up on my bed" I smiled, laughing as I could see Charlie mentally and physically relax.
