The metal door slid across the metal floor of the corridor and the doctors and nurses had fled. Soldiers made a barricade from side turned beds and cabinets, standing steady for their last defense. I laid helpless in my dumb roller-bed, bandaged and bruised from my fall. The bed was positioned in a way that I could see everything unfolding before me.
In the doorway stood a tall figure, weaponless but ready to kill. A parabeast stood behind him, making that cursed, shrill roar. The soldiers ducked and covered their ears from the noise, but I couldn't do the same. I tried lifting my arms to cover my ears, but my shoulder spiked with pain and forced them back down onto the bed. I knew for sure that my ears would have permanent damage by now. I screamed in pain of my shoulder, back and ears, in fear that this would be my unfortunate end. Dying like this, all alone and doomed to a horrible death was all too much.
The men regained themselves after the beast's roar and fired their weapons. The huge man in the doorway dodged the bullets, regardless of all logic and lunged at the barricade of desperate people. His figure was now more visible.
He was a snatcher. He was blue-skinned and had a tall pair of crab claws stuck to his head, adding to his height and only making him look more threatening. Not only that, but he had them attached to his arm too, replacing his hands. He had no need for a weapon- he was one.
The snatcher (snatched) a man's barrel of his gun and bent it backwards, ripping it from his hands and throwing it at another man's head, knocking him out. One of the soldiers pointed their gun from their gut at him and desperately started shooting. The evil snatcher didn't take his effort as meaningful and zipped from his previous position, dodging the stream of bullets once again. He appeared behind him and started toying with him as a human shield. He grabbed one of his arms with his claw and began to rip it the wrong way. The crackling of his bones could be heard from my side of the hallway. He screamed in pain as his freshly white bones jutted out from his skin. The snatcher took his other hand and used the machine gun to shoot down the other soldiers. The snatcher laughed maniacally as a bloody mess painted the walls. The men's' bodies jerked back and forth as the bullets made swiss cheese out of them.
The corpses dropped to the floor and some slid down the wall and slumped over dead. The murderer threw down his human-toy and shot him in the head, finally ending his misery. He threw the gun down and stepped over the corpse disrespectfully. He started walking down the hall, the parabeast grunting behind him. I closed my eyes and played dead.
The figure paced past my bed. I squinted my eyes and saw him passing. It was as if he sensed my fear and that I was watching him. He turned towards me. Silent.
I closed my eyes and tried to keep myself from trembling. It was too late, he knew I was alive. Even with my eyes closed, I could feel his nasty grin growing on his face. "Hey, come get a load of this one!" He sneered.
I heard the footsteps of his men growing towards me.
