i never realized

how beautiful life was

until now

how much color

the world holds

my favorites

are the autumn leaves

red, orange, yellow

sometimes purple

if we're lucky

sure

the rainbows in the sky

and the blooms in spring

are all very pretty

but they don't hold

the memories i carry

with me

everywhere i go

like

that one autumn night

when you dragged me

from the comfort of my blankets

the warmth of my bed

and instead

filled my head

with laughter

with smiles

with fun

as the sun

was going down

the light glinting

off your hair

and the leaves

dancing

falling everywhere

my skin tingling

from the crisp cold air

i felt at home

and you made realize

what i had to live for

my memories were poor

all in black and white before

and up until that day

i had no reason to stay

but the colors

started calling me

begging to be mixed

to be made into something more beautiful

giving me that reason to stay

so even after you left

and hurt me

time and time again

i watch over the colors

that will comfort you in the end
