day 3
i had taken a morning walk around the garden to free my mind before the day started.
grayson always seemed to preach about the importance of freeing your mind within nature. sometimes i think he needs to practice what he preaches. he seems abit on edge at the moment. i mean, i've only known him for 3 days but when you're in here it feels like 3 years, so much happens. as each day passes i feel as if he becomes more anxious.
as stupid as it sounds, this place has really began to feel like home, well as much as it can. i'm grateful that everyone i have encountered thus far have been pleasant and welcoming. however, if i ever needed to speak to someone about something, who would i turn to? i couldn't even speak to my friends who i'd known 5+ years never mind someone i'd known for 3 days.
unexpressed emotions will never die. they are buried alive and will come forth later in uglier ways. and i wasn't prepared to face the consequences of not telling someone how i feel, even if it means feeling vulnerable.
grayson had popped his head around the corner of the rose arch and had a smile plastered on his face.
"morning lex" he chirped
"morning. you scared me abit there. you seem in a good mood"
"i am. are you?" he smiled
"well i am now. i took your advice about freeing your mind"
"why? what was the matter?" a serious look soon swept the grin off his face
"ah you know depression. you have your good days and you have your bad days. i guess today is just a bad day."
"well i hope it isn't. i wanted to asked you something?"
"oh yes, what is it?" my eyebrow raised intrigued
"i was wondering if you'd meet me on the roof later? we can just spend some time together away from all the little kids"
"you're not going to push me off are you?" i joked
"why would i do that?"
"why would you take me to the roof?"
"is that a yes?"
"its a yes grayson"
"yay, see you later lex" he skipped off
"bye gray"
after a few hours, grayson and i headed to the roof and sat down next to each other.
"thank you for agreeing to come on this date with me" he spoke
"wait. this is a date?"
"um well, i thought it was but if you don't want it to be then that's fine." his cheeks flushed, embarrassed.
"so if this is a date, are you saying that you like me?"
"well if i didn't like you i wouldn't have written down 10 things i like about you, would i?"
"no way did you actually do that" i giggled
"yes way. let's start."
"okay"
"number 1" he started
"number 1: you always have such a beautiful smile plastered across your pretty face.
number 2: you're the best listener i've ever met and you always remember if i've told you something.
number 3: following on from number 2, you're always open to trying new things. so if i've told you something, you'll remember it and try it out.
number 4: you're full of wisdom and my dumb ass appreciates it a lot, so thank you.
number 5: you have a positive mindset even though you're inside a mental institute.
number 6: your laugh is music to my ears and i could listen to it everyday until the day i die.
number 7: you care about others more than yourself.
number 8: you're so clumsy and it never fails to make me laugh.
number 9: you're so good with the children in here and already, they see you as an older sister.
number 10: you're lips are so gorgeous, i bet they'd be great to kiss."
"why don't you find out?" i giggled
he leant in and slowly pressed our lips together and i smiled up against them.
"if i didn't like you i wouldn't do this, would i?" he asked and leant back in.
he roamed my mouth with his tongue and gently brushed the hair out of my face as he cupped my cheeks. we pulled away after a short while and smiled gently at one another.
