I took Haruna to the city for the first time. Fascinated with all the lights and the big crowds, she kept making short and long beeps while hitting the car's window nonstop with both of her hands. /// First we went to the shopping mall. After going through a couple of shops, we found a sports & outdoors store where she saw a pair of telescopes. When I tried to leave the store, she pulled on my skirt and for the first time I saw her on the verge of tears. She dragged me to the telescopes and the salesman explained that one of them was for beginners while the other one, obviously more expensive, was for professionals. I made a quick calculation and figured I could buy the basic one, after all, we had to celebrate that Haruna finally had a name. But when I picked it up, Haruna shook her head and reached for the professional telescope. Ur-sa-ma-jor!, Ur-sa-mi-nor! She exclaimed. I wanted to scold her and tell her that if she behaved I would buy it for her birthday, but then I realized the obvious. I would never be able to celebrate a birthday with Haruna! So I decided not to bother with prices and bought her the professional one. Happy birthday Haruna, I said. She smiled, hugging her gift.
