I woke up at three in the morning and Haruna wasn't beside me. I dashed off toward the living room, she wasn't in the crib either. The front door was open. I ran on the sand as fast as I could, looking around. I was going to scream her name but I covered my mouth at the last second. No one was to know about my daughter. I decided to run to the left. In the distance I recognized her small silhouette, the whiteness of her new pajamas. Haruna was on her knees near the shore, pushing something with difficulty. She turned her face towards me and then went back to what she was doing: she was returning a small dolphin to the ocean. "He says he's lost," Haruna whispered, shyly. I helped her and in a few seconds the animal was swimming happily under the sea.
