"I'm walking you home." Jacques suddenly appears out of no where.

He does this everyday after school. It can be annoying at times but I do appreciate it.

"Weren't you in detention?"

Jacques smirks. "For what?"

"Fighting." I narrow my eyes at him. " I saw you earlier. You were fighting Alex. "

"Oh." He scoffs. "He was bullying some kid I just put him in his place."

"What was he doing?"

"He took another kid's food. That's a felony."

"All right justified."

"Who are you? My mom?"

"Nope a sensible companion."

He scowls. "Whatever. My friends are awesome."

"Uh-huh."

"Hey!" Jacques hisses, grabbing my arm.

"What?"

"Cross."

I glance around a group of men are approaching us. I can smell trouble. Strangely, the street seems empty like everyone just disappeared. Jacques gives me a hard pinch on my arm.

"Cross." His jaw is set.

"Come with me."

"All right."

We cross and head for home glancing over our shoulders the whole time.
