My throat was raw from the scream that escaped me. There was a thud as y fist made contact with something. "Ow," I heard. Oh, Evan is in here. He turned on the lamp next to the bed. He had his hand on his nose. "I heard you screaming and came in here to check on you. You were having a nightmare. Must of been pretty bad. Got a good swing, don't you?" He laughed a little.
I swallowed hard. Looking at the clock, I sighed. Three am. Yesterday must have scared me more than I thought. "Thank you for waking me up. And sorry for punching you. It was self defense in my nightmare. What's weird is that I haven't had a nightmare in two years. Yesterday's event must have struck something pretty bad." I took a good look at Evan as I paused. He ran in my room with just a pair of sweats on. No shirt. Oh my god. Okay, damn he is hot, I thought. I then argued with myself. Joy, the hell is wrong with you? No! No boys, no men. I sighed. Maybe Sarah was right. Maybe I should give him a chance.
Evan smiled at me and pulled the covers back next to me. He sat down, covered us both and held me close. It didn't feel sexual or anything. It felt like comfort. He held me closer as I laid down and fell asleep.
When I woke up, I looked at my clock. Fuck! Ten am. What is that smell? It smells...... good. I looked next to me, I realized I was alone. Maybe that was a dream. I got out of bed and went downstairs.
"I called the school and your work for you. Don't worry about it. You needed your sleep after last night." Oh, it wasn't a dream. "I, uh, I hope that wasn't weird. That I, uh, slept next to you. I remember my mom did that for me as a kid, and how great a comfort it was. I was hoping it would work for you, too. I also hope you're hungry." He seemed a little nervous. Maybe he does like me.
I realized he was waiting for an answer. "Uh," I cleared my throat, "yeah... no, last night was fine. It was great actually. Thank you so much. For last night and making food. You didn't have to." I heard a snort like laugh from him. "Hey, did you hear anyone pound on the door?"
After setting food in front of me, he shook his head. "No. I think they knew someone was hereof her than you. You know, that's fine by me. No one needs to be bothering you anyways."
