Chapter 9: So it begins

With Travis orders to leave early the next morning I had decided to stay at the Cullen's for the night. Charlie was working late anyway so it seemed like a good idea. Bella had already called him to tell him that me and Emmett were going on a trip to Europe to visit Rome. Charlie seemed a bit uncertain of it, but she explained to him that everything would be okay. I hated lying to my own father this much, but o had to do it. I couldn't just tell him hey dad I'm going with my fiancé, who is a vampire, to stop an evil clan of vampires from overthrowing another vampire king. Oh yeah that would really sound cool and not insane. I shook my head as I finished the last of my packing for the night. Then I sat my bags beside Emmett's bed and changed into a pair of black sweat pants and a gray tank. Then I braided my hair into a side braid and laid down on his bed.
    "Dani?" I raised my head up from the bed to find Blake. I ushered her in and she joined me.
    "Is everything okay with you and the baby?" I asked her. She nodded her head and let her long blonde hair fall over her shoulders.
    "Yeah. We're both good. Just a bit scared about meeting Travis's brother is all". She replied.
    "You and me both. Carlisle said that his family was very....hotheaded especially when it came to us humans".
     "So I've heard from Travis". She said. "I'm just worried that Lucien won't accept me as his future sister-in-law you know?" Blake admitted to me. I smiled and placed a hand on her shoulder.
     "I feel you. I mean Emmett's family does accept me, but there was a time where I felt...unsure about it all. I never imagined in my wildest dreams to be marrying a vampire and becoming one myself. It's all so....confusing even after all this time". I explained to her. I had been dealing with life or death vampire situations for the past two years and it never felt normal really. I mean I was used to dealing with a new situation every now and then, but sometimes it felt strange.
     "Neither did I, but now I am and honestly I couldn't imagine a life without Travis in it. I know that sounds cliché".
     "Trust me it does,but" I stated. "I know how you feel. I couldn't image my life without Emmett. He brings the best out in me, but don't tell him that. He has a big ego".
Blake let out a laugh. "I promise I won't. I should get some sleep". I helped her up from the bed and walked her to the door.
   "Sweet dreams Blake". I whispered to myself as I watched her move down the hall to Travis room.

    "A private jet? Really?" I asked looking over at Travis as we walked out of the airport area. He smiled and linked hands with Blake.
   "My brother is exotic when it comes to spending money on things that he wants". Travis informed us. I glanced up at Emmett and he just shrugged his shoulders. I just rolled my eyes as all of us began to boarder Travis brothers private jet.
Opening up one of the compartments for luggage Emmett reached for my bags before I could. "Allow me". He then put all my stuff away for me.
    "A true gentleman". I winked at him.
    "Something that my brother is not". Travis added to our little banter. Both of us looked at each other then at Travis.
     "What is your brother like exactly?" I asked Travis as all of us took our seats. Blake sat across from me and Emmett of course planted himself right next to me.
     "Reckless and a flirt at heart". Travis stated. "Though my brother is a noble ruler he lacks the respect for others wishes and continues to anger the other kingdoms around his".
     "How so?" Blake cheered in.
     "For one thing Lucien lacks a proper courtship. Many of the royal families have always had a queen to rule beside the king. However my brother does not". Travis answered his mate.
     "Why not? Is he not into females or-"
     "Quite the opposite in fact. My brother is very attracted to females, however I don't believe that it's such a good thing".
     "Why would being attracted to females be a bad thing?" Emmett asked. "I find it rather interesting" he smirked. I just rolled my eyes at him.
     "It is a bad thing when it prevents him from finding a mate. Each vampire king before him has had a mate and my brother is the first not too and I'm afraid that could be his down fall". Travis stated.

Didn't think I'd be updating this soon, but I wrote a lot on out six hour drive to Michigan. Anyway enjoy!
