Fifteen

"I'm so sorry Abby. I've been so selfish. How about you? What happened to your life? It's been three years since I saw you," I told Abby while we're at a coffeeshop.

"I'm a sophomore now and I'm still living with my parents. We went to my grandma's place while I'm still, you know, preggy." She whispered the last words. I know it's still hard for her when she remembers everything that has happened when we're still freshmen.

We used to be inseparable. Laughing at the girls like Miley who think they’re cool enough to wear those slutty clothes. And the boys… Those gorgeous senior boys who used to come we’ve been dying to go out with.

“You still remember Stephen? The football jock?”

“Oh! My Stephen, the angelic face with a hot body.”

“Do you still see him at school?”

“Sometimes. He’s with other girls though. And I mean, girls.”

“Oh. And is he still with… you know who?”

‘You know who’ is the father of Abby’s daughter. She used to tell me about how he courted him. How her head spin while they kiss. Cars are really the guys’ best friend and also their number one asset.

“Yeah. Do you know how much effort I make to stop myself from killing that stupid guy after what he did to you?”

“It’s not his fault.”

“He left you. He left you after he got what he wanted. After promising you everything a fifteen year old girl could ever want.”

You take a deep breath and you walk through the doors

It's the morning of your very first day

You say hi to your friends you ain't seen in a while

Try and stay out of everybody's way

It's your freshman year and you're gonna be here

For the next four years in this town

Hoping one of those senior boys will wink at you and say

You know I haven't seen you around, before

(Chorus)

'Cause when you're fifteen and

Somebody tells you they love you

You're gonna believe them

And when you're fifteen feeling like

There's nothing to figure out

But count to ten, take it in

This is life before you know

Who you're gonna be

Fifteen

You sit in a class next to a redheaded Abigail

And soon enough you're best friends

Laughing at the other girls

Who think they're so cool

We'll be out of here as soon as we can

And then you're on you're very first date

And he's got a car and you're feeling like flying
