Chapter 9

“And where y’all think y’all going?” I ask them.
“Minding our business.” Mina laughs.
“We’re calling it a night fam.” Don tells me.
“Are you cool with that Mina?” I ask her seriously. Don turns and looks at her to make sure she’s ok with it too. She looks up at him and now their staring at each other.
“I’m cool, plus baby with me.” She tells me. I give her a nod and me and the girls turn around to continue our conversation. The guys looking at us like we’re crazy.
“Who the hell is baby?” Lucky asked chuckling. We all looked at him, and pulled our guns out at the same time. They all looked at each other and then started cracking the fuck up like we were telling jokes or something. Except for Don and Nikki. Don looked like he was sorry for them laughing. And Nikki looked like she was proud. Me and Diamond looked around the room at everybody. Rome, Lana and Demaris along with Jazz and Lucky were still laughing. Then Don spoke up.
“They don’t know you ladies like I do. Don’t be upset that they’re laughing. I know y’all are more than capable of taking care of yourselves and each other.” He said looking at us. I only just found this out because of Jazz. But the girls were a little put off by what he said.
“I’ve been keeping an eye on y’all for Roc awhile now. I’ve seen how y’all what, and I know you guys have been trained well by Roc and Quan. They’re laughing because you guys don’t know what I do. To them her gun would be useless against me. If I wanted to hurt her that gun wouldn’t help her. I’m a trained navy seal, to make it simple amongst other things.” He stated.
“Yea, amongst other things.” Lana said under her breath. Don snapped his head towards her. And Lana gave him her signature innocent look. Don just shook his head and exhaled loudly.
“Why do I get the feeling you’re not telling me everything.” Mina said to him with her eyebrow cocked waiting for a response. Don stood there looking at us like he was having an internal battle with his self, trying to decide how much he should tell us.
“I don’t know how much I should tell you Mina, or even if you’re ready to hear it. I’m not”…… before he could finish what he was getting ready to say Niq and Roc came down the stairs. We all turned to her voice.
“She can handle it Don. As a matter of fact, they all can handle it. Might as well get it out the way.” Niq said coming down the stairs holding Roc’s hand. They were settling in to being a couple fast. But I guess when you been in love forever it should happen pretty fast. Don turned around and looked at Demaris and then all of us.
“Wait, you really about to tell her and them everything?” Rome asked looking around the room.
“Yea Rome, but first what’s said in this room stays in this room. Regardless if anybody hooks up we all family now. Quan already knows so it’s not like it’s that big of a secret. Plus, they should know. Agreed?” Roc answers for Don. The whole time he was looking at Mina. We all look at Don as he looks our way, we give him the go ahead for him to talk.
“I’m a trained assassin.” Is the only thing he said for a second.
“I’m so good that there has only been one soldier to ever get close to my records. Only by seconds but still close.” He said looking directly at Mina. Nobody noticed how Demaris was looking at Lana.
“And that’s me.” Demaris said still looking at Lana.
“The only difference between me and him is he’s the one you call if you want to knock someone off from a distance. If you want it up close and personal you call me.” Don said. Mina looked at us and we all started laughing including Lana.
“So, you can teach me how to beat the shit out of someone without a weapon Don?” Jazzy asked looking at Nikki, both smiling like they found fucking gold.
“And you can teach me to mirk a nigga from 500 ft. away Demaris?” Diamond asked.
“I want to sign up for both classes if that’s what we doing?” Lana said.
“Me too.” Jade said.
“Hey fam, where y’all find them at? I want one.” Rome asked Roc laughing.
“I told you these Quan’s people. They all cray cray fam.” Roc laughed.
“Hold on, you’re a UFC fighter Demaris. Can you beat Don in hand to hand?” Lana asked. Demaris turned to look at Don smirking at him. He hated that look, he knew it too well. He had been seeing it since he joined the navy. This man taught him everything he knows. Don had made the seals right after graduation. Hell, they recruited him fresh off the stage. Demaris had joined about four years after him. And Don had been the one to recruit him.
“All though we can both hold our own in the others specialty, this man is my mentor and he taught me everything I know. He would more than likely beat me in the long run.” Demaris said looking at Lana with pride as he talked about Don.
“He would definitely give me a run for my money though Bana.” Don said hoping that Lana wouldn’t hold this against Demaris.
“For him to be even close to you shocks me cuz. Like I’ve seen you in action and that’s impressive. But my baby good in my eyes already. I couldn’t be happier with my choice.” Lana said hugging Demaris. You could see him visibly relax.
“Mina you haven’t said anything, you good fool?” Niq asked her smiling.
“She probably thinking about all the ways Don could subdue her ass.” Jade said laughing. Mina looked at her laughing.
“You know me so well, Jade.” Mina said smiling.
“Let me get this straight, ain’t none of y’all even a little scared of these niggas? I mean even though these other niggas ain’t country trained they crazy too.” Rome said shaking his head laughing. We all laugh again and shake our heads. 
“Unfucking believable.” He said to his self.
“Nope. Just in case you haven’t realized it yet, we not ya average females Rome. We were bred for this shit, just like they were.” Mina said.
“It’s going to take more than that to scare us off. We’re always worried about finding niggas who would understand our lifestyle. Now we don’t have to worry about that. Because they more fucked up than we are.” Diamond said laughing at her own joke.
“Why we gotta be fucked up?” Lucky asked walking up to Diamond.
“Because you are. After all, Roc is your home boy and we all know he fucked up. Make that nigga mad, it’s like he’s the spawn of satan.” Diamond said looking at Roc.
“You not funny nigga.” Roc said to Diamond mugging her.
“Wasn’t trying to be step daddy.” Diamond said looking at him and Niq’s hands knowing that would soften him up. 
“Just saying if shit hit the fan I’m happy with my team.” Jade say giving Diamond a high five.
“Y’all so special, but I feel y’all.” Lana said.
“Well we about to go fam. I’m ready to go to sleep, it’s been a long night.” Lana said looking at Demaris. He stood up and held her coat out for her to put on. Don followed suit doing the same thing for Mina.
“Yea, we’re about to head out too.” Don said.
“Yea, we’re going back to bed.” Niq said walking back up the stairs with Roc following her.
