Well last night was interesting; I had sent Zach a text so he had my number. I had looked at the screen of my phone for at least ten minutes before I decided what I was going to write. I ended up sending a simple message saying Hi. I didn't want to look too keen. When I woke up this morning there was no reply but it didn't bother me, I had only known him one day after all.
I had so much to do today and so little time, I wanted to stock my dad's refrigerator and pick up an outfit for my party. I may not have wanted a party but now I'm being forced to have one going to look my best and enjoy it. I really didn't want to get out of bed but I knew if I pressed snooze again I would waste the entire day. I had a long soak in the bath as it's not something you can do as regularly back at college. Who has times for bubble baths at college; they are something I really miss.
I dress in a simple summer dress; the good thing about living in California is the weathers always great. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. I straightened my hair and applied my make up quickly. I had spent more time in the bath than I had planned so I had less time to get everything done on my list before I went back to school.
When I get downstairs I see that my dad isn't home so I'm able to leave quickly and head to the store.

I was reading the fat content on Greek yoghurt when I thought I could sense someone looking at me. When I turned I saw my dad's friend Joe walking towards me. He smiled and nodded his head in greeting.
"They don't sell beds here" I joked
Joe looked confused at first before he realised I was referencing yesterday's conversation. "Oh damn so you're telling me this isn't beds r us"
I shook my head and laughed.
"Next you will be telling me all that health food is for your dad" he said peering into my cart.
"It's is"
Joe laughed; I didn't see what was so funny about me buying my dad some groceries.
"Have you even met your dad, Garry won't eat any of that stuff"
I knew he was right, but I had to try and look after him.
"He will when he's hungry" I argued.
"I hate to break it to you but he knows how to order take out now, he's on first name basis with dominoes delivery man"
I should have known that when I wasn't around to make him balanced meals that he would live on fast food.
"So is that your lunch" I peered in his basket and saw there were corn chips, salsa and beer. The complete bachelor shopping list.
"Yeah I was at a family BBQ but I couldn't take it. I said I had been called to work"
I asked if it had really been that bad and he said it had. He hadn't even eaten before he left, he hadn't wanted to go in the first place but he had a duty to show his face.
"I'm going for tacos after this if you want to come"
He suddenly got all anxious. He was nervously running his free hand through his hair. He was acting like I had just asked him to join the occult and slaughter a lamb.
"I can't. It would be wrong. Your dad wouldn't like it" he was stuttering, I hadn't noticed him do it before. I realised it must be a nervous habit.
"Joe. I'm not asking you to marry me. It's not a date. I just don't want to eat alone" I explained but he still looked hesitant to take me up on my offer.
"Never mind" I said defeated, I didn't see the big deal.
"Ok, I could eat"
We continued shopping separately and I met him in the car park. I drove in my car and he followed, I had nothing that would go off while we were eating so there was no rush to get home.
