Who am I?
What am I?
Where am I from?
I ponder
I wonder
When I'm in Singapore
People say I'm from India
When I'm in India
People say I'm from Singapore
So am I from the place I was born
Or
The place I was brought up in
I ponder
I wonder
My grandfather told me stories
Tales, of all kinds
About kindness, love, helpful, graciousness
About being selfish, mean, horrid, unpleasant
One by one
Day by day
These tales shaped me
So when someone asks me
Where am I from?
What am I?
Who am I?
I tell them
I'm from the tales of the old
