Spirit of Freedom [Bolin]

Chapter 9

"We're losing them!" Korra shouts as the Van that Wu is in takes a sharp turn.

"Hang a right at the right block. We can cut them off on Seventh." Mako advises but Asami keeps driving straight makes yells at her annoyed.

"You missed the turn! Where are you going?!" I sit up scared, why did they watch Prince Wu?

"I know these streets better than you. I built some of them!" She says back equally annoyed. We drive up an elevated freeway and Korra stands up, my eyes widen.

"What are you doing?!" I cry and Mako orders her to sit down. So she jumps out of the car and onto the van which drove below us.

The van suddenly stops and we follow it, I jump out of the car and run over.

"Wu's not here. This guy was the only one in the truck." She states pulling the original kidnapper out of the van.

"Where's the Prince?" Mako asks grabbing the man around his collar, he slams him into the side of the van.

"Halfway to Kuvira by now." The man says, he grins. "All hail the Great Uniter."

"They must of moved Wu to a different vehicle when we lost sight of them." Asami says, I glare at the man and twist my hand around my wrist trying no to lose my temper.

A police van pulls up next to us and Mako throws the kidnapper in the back.

I turn to Korra she looks angry too, then she calms down. She walks over to the spirit vines and puts her hand on one. She closets her eyes and I watch her curiously, she looks at us suddenly.

"They're taking Wu to the train station!" She announces, we all look at her confused. How does she know?

"I'll explain on the way, just drive! We're running out of time!" She yells, we all jump back into the car.

"Which train is Wu on?" Mako ask, Korra looks around unsure.

"I don't know!"

"Split up and start looking." Mako orders, I run down and start weaving through people.

"He's on that train!" Korra yells, I run over and slip through one of the closing doors while the others run for one further up.

I look around the cabin and it was normal, people sat quietly talking. I walk into the next Cabin and it was full of luggage.

A red chest rattles and I walk over to it cautiously. It rattles again, I throw it open and Wu pops out shouting and wailing lot.

I grab his arms and shake him, "Wu! Wu, it's me."

The down slides open and the other three walk in. I turn to them, "Nini? Where am I? Am I dead? Did we get married?"

"What?! No! You're on a train. We're gonna get you out of here." I say, then the door slides out again. Two men walk in and I stand up, I stand protectively in front of Wu.

Korra knocks them out with Airbending but more attackers come running into the car from the front and back.

Mako gets in front of me creating an extra barrier. Korra metal bends the dirt so it can't open and then rips the roof off the cabin.

"Everyone out." She commands. Wu shakes his head and I grab his arm pulling him forward.

"I'm not going up there," He says, Korra looks at him annoyed and I jump up dragging him with me.

I pull him as we run across the train cars, the metal benders follow in pursuit. Mako, Korra and Asami fight as Wu complains. I block him out but then they try to bend a large metal sheet on us.

"Jump!" Korra says, she bends a sphere of air around her, Asami and Mako while I bend one around Wu and I.

We jump to the jump narrowly avoiding getting crushed. We hit the ground and the sphere disappears, I let go of Wu as we roll along the ground.

I stand up and Mako walks over to us, he picks Wu up. "You all right?"

"Yes! Thank you, thank you" he repeats over and over, he embraces Mako and manages to reach me. I'm forced into a hug and I struggle to get out as Wu rubs his head against mine lovingly. "You are definitely getting a raise, Buddy and Thank you Nini for finding me."
I wave my hands in protest, "You should be thanking Korra. We never would have found you without her."

He moves over to Korra and bows." I owe you my life, Avatar. If only there was some way to repay you." He grabs her hand and pats it sadly. "I would take you on a night on the town but I wouldn't want to give my true love more sorrow."

"Yourself?" She says naively as I slowly back away from the situation but he grabs me.

"No Silly! My gorgeous Nini!" He exclaims, my eyes widen and I look at Korra for help. She just laughs.

"You are confession your love to get now?" She says unimpressed, thank god. He goes silent and let's go of me, I lower my head and look at the ground blushing. He really needs to stop that.

I join the rest of the group and Wu follows behind me sulking. "So what are we going to do with him?"

"It's too dangerous to take him back to the hotel." Korra explains, Wu comes up weirdly excited.

"Whoo! You're telling me! I need a cushy safe house somewhere."

"I think I know just the place." Mako states.

We walk up to mansion with huge Windows. "This is Asami's place. She was nice enough to let my family stay here after they fled Ba Sing Se."

The big wooden doors open and an old lady walks out and smiles when she sees Mako. She must be his grandmother.

"Mako! It's so wonderful to-" Her eyes go big and she covers her mouth as she gasps as the sight of the prince. She reaches out for Wu with her left hand. "Are you..."

"Grandma, this is Prince Wu. He needs to stay with you and the family for a little while." Mako states, his Grandma looked like she was going to faint.

Wu kneels in front of her and grabs her hand, he kisses it. "It's an honour, Grandma Mako."

She faints and Mako catches her, I giggle. "I'm guessing she loves royalty?"
Mako nods.

"I think I'll fit in right here." Wu says, he touches Mako's shoulder. "Thanks for looking out for me, Mako." He throws his arms back. "Now where's the nearest bathroom? I have been holding it all day!"
