Chapter 2

Karina’s POV

I woke up in the middle of the night drenching with sweat. Cold sweat ran down my back as my pants were the only thing heard around the room.

"Great another nightmare." I thought.

I groaned. "What I need is a good lake night swim." I decided. I got out of the bed and put on my black two piece swim suit, my turquoise water shorts, and my brother’s over-sized white shirt, I tip-toed towards the door, careful not to wake Mia, I was about to open the door when Mia stopped me.

“Kari, where are you going?” she asked.

“Just going for a midnight swim.” I whispered back.

“At 5:30 in the mornin-” she stopped for a second then recognition crossed her mind. “Another nightmare.” she didn’t ask, she knew. Ever since we had survived that plane crash from Costa Rica to Tampa, FL I’ve been having nightmares about it. We were just lucky that the plane started malfunctioning when we were descending and only three people actually got injured.

“Yeah, well then a morning swim, I just need to clear my mind.” I sighed.

“Okay, well bring your pocket knife with you.” she opened the nightstand's first drawer and tossed me the pocket knife and went right back to sleep. I chuckled quietly putting the pocket knife back in the stand. I woudlnt need it.

Wish I didn’t have nightmares and had the ability to sleep at night like her.

I creeped quietly down the stairs and towards the front door. Once I was out I let out the air I hadn’t realized I was holding in and started walking but accidentally stepped on a branch. I stayed still hoping nobody had heard that since the guys were staying in a tent a few feet away. When I was sure nobody had heard me I started towards the lake again.

Hehehe I’m as quiet as a ninja.

Once I reached the shore I sat down on the pebbly shore, resting my feet in the water, relaxing at the feeling of the cool breeze and the cold water hitting my feet. Looking around the lake I noticed its beauty more clearly than when I first got here, on the other side of the lake there was a type of small cliff face made up entirely of limestone. It seemed good for jumping, it was small not the high. i sighed completly relaxed. The water sparkled in the moonlight with the stars shining above adronign the night sky, it was a beautiful sight but, like always, something has to ruin it.

Somebody grabbed my arms from behind them in a tight grip making me squeal from the surprise. I looked up from my trance to try and see the person that had grabbed me. Great, just when I thought I could get peace and quiet. Isn’t fate just nice.

Alejandro’s POV

I woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of a branch breaking. I waited a few minutes for another sound but heard none. I was going to go back to sleep when I heard somebody walking quietly well it might be quiet for he/she or whatever it was, but I think that an elephant in heels could make less noise. I got up since my sleep was obviously interrupted and might as well figure out what woke me. I saw a person walking towards the lake, but I couldn’t see them very well since it was dark. When I made sure the person couldn’t see me creeping slowly behind him or at least, I think it’s a he, I followed him.

Once I was sure he hadn’t noticed me behind him I grabbed him by his arms and restrained them behind his back.

“HEY!!! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!!!” he shouted. Wait a minute. The voice didn’t sound masculine at all, it actually sounded feminine. I didn’t have time to register what happened next because she had stomped my foot and hit me with her head in my nose. I let her go to hold my nose and she went barreling towards the water.
