"Hello?"
"Hey."
"What's up?"
"Why did you call me crying yesterday?"
"That sounds like a lot of fun. Wish I could do that."
"I'm serious."
"You should have taken me with you!"
"Gray?"
"That's new!"
"What happened? I can hear the hurt in your voice."
"My, my brother got out of jail."
"Aaron?"
"Yeah, he's coming home today."
"I thought he was supposed to be in jail for a while longer."
"No, he's served his time."
"Oh."
"I understand that you don't really like him or anything, but why are you so upset?"
"I'm the reason he went to jail. I snitched on him. He'll want nothing more than to ring me up by my neck."
"You're parents won't keep him from doing that?"
"They're not home, and even if they were they wouldn't be able to stop him. All they'd be able to do is call the cops. He'll go back to jail. Then, get out of jail, beat me up again, and the circle goes around and around."
"Can you get out of the house? Go somewhere?"
"I have nowhere to go."
"You could go to your friend's house."
"I could, but he's not home."
"Come to mine. My parents are home, but they won't mind. Come to my house."
"I can't do that."
"And why not?"
"Your parents won't let me come."
"Mom, can I have a guy over?"
"She said yes, as long as we stayed downstairs."
"Okay, I'll be there."
"I'll meet you at the end of Miller Street."
"On my way, but can I ask you a question?"
"Sure..."
"How did your mom hear you from downstairs?"
"She was in the laundry room."
"Oh okay. I'll see you in a minute."
"Okay, be careful, Grayson."
"You too, Nessa."
