He stood there, smiling.

I could not believe he was still alive and looking well.

William, or my dad, was standing right in front of me. Wearing simple clothing such as a pair of old jeans, a polo shirt, and... sandals. He wasn't wearing any of his clothing he had back in the mansion. And that goddamn smile will forever irritate me.

But there were two police men behind him.

Was he out? Was he under probation? Can I get the restraining order ready?

"What the fuck are you doing here?" I snarled, glaring at him.

He frowns, "I just wanted to see how you were doing..."

Squinting my eyes at him, I told, "You don't need to fucking know how I've been doing because, clearly, I've been doing great. I've been doing so fucking well since you've been gone."

"Zariah..."

"No!" I shouted. "Don't you dare say my fucking name! I will never forgive you for what you've done!"

Surprisingly, Cheryl pulled me back with a tight grip on my arm. She whispered, "Z, stop..."

"You're a fucking monster!" I yelled at William.

"Zariah, stop it."

I yanked my arm away from Cheryl's grip and walked up to the man, slapping him on his face. There were countless of gasps. Even I was shocked to hear that there were still students here. Now it was exposed.

My dad is a prisoner, and everyone will be talking about him.

Exiting the gymnasium, I felt tears staining my cheeks. It was a relief to see that there weren't much students around as I lowered my head, walking fast enough just to bump into another person.

"Oh, my God, I'm so sorry! I didn't see you... Zariah?"

I halted, glancing upwards with glossy eyes. It was Sabrina. It would've been so much better if it was Cheryl, but no, it just had to be Sabrina of all people.

"Are you okay?" No.

"I'm fine."

Then I pushed past her, leaving her baffled.

A scent approached me as soon as I got out of school. Trees were swaying around and the sun was shining, melting the few amount of snow below my feet. I want it to rain. But I had no umbrella with me.

And shit, I forgot the triple date for later.

I groaned, approaching Cheryl's 1916 Chevrolet Impala. I leaned back against the hood with my bag placed on top of it. Digging my hand into my pocket, I got my phone out.

I said through the phone after searching through my contacts, "Ronnie?"

"Oh, hey Zariah. What's up?" She asks.

"Cheryl and I might run a bit late for the date later..." I paused, sighing. "Something, or someone rather, came up."

"Oh no, who is it?" She asks, but I soon spot Cheryl looking worried as she got out of the glass doors in a hurry.

"I'll tell you later." I hung up, waving my girlfriend over who sighed in relief. But her tough aura frightened me as she stomps her way towards me.

"Why on earth did you run away?" Her hand reached over to my cheek and ran over it, wiping away my tear-stained face. "You shouldn't have said that."
