Finally, school was out for summer. I could just stay home all day and text all of my friends and watch Netflix. I am so excited! I get on the bus and everybody is yelling, and the music is playing loudly. I just realized that next year I'll be a freshman in high school. I'm very worried that the seniors will call us mean names, but then again I'm happy to finally be out of Pine Tree middle school and that I finally get to go to Shadow Mountain High.
As soon as I get off the bus, and walk to my house, my mom is outside waiting for me.
"Hey, I have exciting news!"
"Uh ok, what is it?"
"You're going to summer camp! You're going to summer camp in California, well San Diego to be exact!" My mom and I live in Montana, and Texas, we usually switch back and forth, and she's sending me to California? Normally I would be thrilled about this except for the fact that I already had things planned, like Natalie, my best friend, coming over, and having pool parties and a lot of parties, but now my plans are all foiled thanks to my mom. What about my phone? Oh god, oh god my phone!
"Um mom, I'll get to bring my phone with right?"
"Yes, but the councilors keep it for you unless you need to call a parent," My mom tells me. I had a let down look on my face, I carry my phone everywhere I go with me! "The camp sounds like so much fun, and it's only for a month, who knows, you might meet a new friend up there, or, or maybe even a new boy." She winks at me.
"But mom-"
"No but's Andrea." I groan.
"Fine, but at least tell me what we're going to be doing there!"
"A lot of things like, I mean there's an ocean you know, you'll do a bunch of things there, and they're going to teach you so many things!"
"Whatever you say mom." My mom rolled her eyes at me, she hated when I said "whatever" to her.
"Anyways, I have some cinnamon bread in the kitchen that I just made. would you like some?" I nodded my head because who would pass the offer of cinnamon bread.
Later that night my mom and I pray for my dad in Afghanistan and ate dinner. After dinner I decide to take a shower and then go to bed early, despite the fact that it was Summer vacation, I have to start packing because I leave in two days for a boring old summer camp.
At 11:30 I'm still awake, so much for going to bed early, I've been in bed for three hours now trying to fall asleep, I keep thinking about camp and how weird it's going to be there. There's going to be people from different states, girls, boys, wait, boys? Yes, boys! Then I was up awake for a different reason thinking of boys. Thinking of how in third grade I was turned down by a boy named Marcus, that was the worst Valentine's day of my life. All I can think about is boys, boys, boys, boys, wondering will I really meet someone up at this camp, could it be the best camp I will ever go to? Maybe It will be the camp where I actually meet my future boyfriend. I think that maybe I do have a chance at this. Finally I am looking forward to going to this camp and I can finally get some sleep.
