That Month at Summer Camp

chapter 8

Today is the competition for surfing and I'm actually really excited, because I'm really competitive and usually I win games and competitions.

We get into our teams, and we start warming up.

"Alright, we will pick one girl and one boy at a time for each team," Ian tells everyone. He finally gets to the green team and then he smirks at me. "Alright, for the green team lets do Christian and Andrea. The rules are that you have to work together the team with the most points added up total after everyone has gone wins." Then he walks away from the groups.

I paddle out into the ocean a little bit then they blow the horn. I start paddling faster and faster and I look over at Christian and he's paddling well too. I feel a huge wave coming so I turn around and I see the wave start to build. I paddle and paddle until I'm on top of the wave and then I hop up. I look around because I can concentrate easily and I see people that tried to catch the wave but wiped out. I look to my right and there I see Christian riding the wave right with me. We dive into the water.

"We have to do this together!" I yell.

"Okay, when either of us say go!"

We paddle back out, and I just wait for a wave to come or to hear Christian yell go. I paddle and we both make the wave again, one other team got up besides us. It's the end of the round and I hear the speakers turn on.

"Congrats to the winners of the first round, the green team!"

I high five Christian and we get out and watch the rest of our team compete. I see the points start to add up, and we go from third to first.

"And the green team wins!" We all hug each other as a team. Ian gives us a trophy to put in the green team's case.

I go and dry off my hair and then get in my soccer uniform. I head out to the field and my team starts warming up.

"Hey Andrea, I want you to play offense. Christian play defense." The team capitan went through everyone on our team and assigned them positions.

The opposing team got to start off with the ball first, they kicked it and Christian stopped and kicked it all the way up to the other half of the field almost into the goal. I kick the ball from somebody and then dribble it all the way up to the goal and then I kick it in.

Let's just say the green team won everything that day, we ended up with two trophies in our case

"Alright people, since we're done with surfing and soccer now it's time to move on to two new things. The new subjects are sandcastle building and volleyball," Ian tells us.

This should be easier than last time, because I would always go to California when I was little and build sandcastles, and volleyball has always been my sport.

"You have two days, Saturday and Sunday, to do whatever you want." Everyone high fives each other.

"Hey, so since we have two days, do you want to catch up on guitar," asks Christian

"Yeah, I mean as long as Emily can come with us."

"Of course! You can bring her anywhere unless I say so." I laugh.

I get Emily and Abigail and we go to guitar practice. We learn a few more chords and also a few strumming tips.

"Hey, we're gonna head back towards the cabin to give you two some time to talk," says Abigail winking. I nod at her and I go back to Christian

"So do you want to go for a walk like old times?"

"Sure," I smile.

We start walking and we stop at the snack bar and get the same smoothie that we got on that one day. We just walked around the beach holding hands. I hope that Christian kisses me before camp is over. Girls aren't supposed to make the first move.

 "So, once you're done with this camp, what're you going to do for the rest of this summer," asks Christian.

 "you know I haven't really thought about it that much since I'm at camp with the best boyfriend ever," I blush.

 "Aw well aren't you sweet. Anyways I was hoping maybe the movie later tonight, just you and me. They're playing it on the field at eight, I'm pretty sure I heard that it was gonna be The Fault in Our Stars, but I know only a few people are going."

 "Yeah sure I'll go with you, I've been wanting to see that movie for a while."

 "Okay, we're allowed to bring tons of blankets and pillows too, but I've got it so dont worry about that."

 "Okay, thank you Christian."

 I leave and go back to my cabin and I see Emily looking into the mirror putting makeup on.

 "Hey where are you going tonight," asks Emily.

 "I could ask you the same thing," I laugh. "Anyways, I'm going to the movie with Christian."

 "Oh okay, cool. I'm going to the beach with a few girls from our cabin and then also cabin twelve."

 "Cool, Hannah's not going is she?"

 "No, she wasn't invited and by the way she's not going to he movie either, but I suggest you don't tell her you're going there."

 "Trust me I won't but I'm going to get dressed now."

 "Okay, you do that. Do you need help putting makeup on?"

 "Sure," I smile at Emily.

 I get dressed in a red dress and then Emily does my makeup. She does winged eyeliner and puts red lipstick on me.

 "Alright you're all ready to go!"

 "Thank you Em."

 "No problem, oh and just so you know twelve is when everyone has to be back at their cabins."

"Okay."

 I just sit on my bed waiting for Christian to come and pick me up, and finally it reaches seven o clock and I hear a knock at the door. I open it and see Christian there dressed in a nice outfit with a rose in his hand.

 "Hello again Andrea," Christian hands me the rose.

 "Hi Christian thank you for the rose."

 "Of course," Christian kisses my hand in a charming way. "Alright, I have blankets and pillows outside the door," I laugh while putting my rose on my stand beside my bed. "Alright, let's go to that movie!" Christian lifts me up on his shoulders and takes the blankets. Now let's go to the movie.
