My eyes widened in surprise as I saw the silhouette of Chandler right against my face. I didn't fight him, because I guess I kinda liked him too. We weren't technically related, our parents never officially got married. So this could work. I moved my lips with his as I began to close my eyes again. He was amazing at this...I wonder how many girlfriends he's had in the past.
He slowly drew back and I felt him lay down again right next to me, his shoulder right against mine.

The rest of the night was spent in silence, both of us sleeping right next to each other. I woke up to a shrill, heart-wrenching scream that sent chills down my spine. I immediately say up as I saw Chandler walking towards the window. I joined him, and peered out seeing a small woman being attacked by two walkers. I gagged as I saw one rip off her shoulder as the other began gnawing away at her opposite hip.
"Chan we need to help her!" I exclaimed, starting to run towards the door.
He grabbed my arm and scolded, "it's too late, Alex. They already have her half-eaten." I sighed, knowing he was right.
I headed back to the window and looked beyond the woman and tried to get a better view of the neighborhood. I found it strange that this was the only motel in the area, and there wasn't a rental place for it either. I glanced at where the street headed to, and it just twisted down along the edge of the forest, I couldn't see where it ended on either side. Not a single person was outside besides the old woman, and about 10 walkers were limping around. I noticed a few guns lined up against a rusted bike rack, and nudged Chandler to look.
He smiled, which quickly faded as he spoke, "too risky. We don't know how many of them have lined the woods and it's at least a 200 yard dash to the bike rack. We don't know how fast they are and based on what's currently happening to that woman, neither one of us would wanna get caught."
"Come on, it's not that much of a risk. If you want to, you can stay and guard the door. I'm quick and I can make it with out getting caught. I'm pretty sure I can outrun a few dead people," I chuckled.
"I would never forgive myself if I let you go alone and then watched you die. You're not going," he scolded, coldly.
I rolled my eyes, "fine." I'll just go when he's sleeping instead. I turned back towards the woman, who now laid lifeless and mutilated in the middle of the street.
Chandler made his way towards the door, and I took a moment to look at him; he was disheveled from sleeping all night, and was wearing a dark sweatshirt with white and red basketball shorts. He lazily stepped out of the room as I followed behind, memorizing his every feature.
We headed towards the kitchen and began pulling out supplies to make ourselves breakfast.

"So, what's next?" Chandler asked while swallowing a bite of pancakes.
I looked up, a bit confused, "hm?"
"Well I mean, this neighborhood is full of these weird things, maybe others aren't? Are we going to try and find our parents?"
I sighed, "they don't really care about us as much as they care about themselves. They wouldn't have gotten on that plane if they were all that concerned about us. They can enjoy their shitty lives while we enjoy ours." Enjoy ours. Maybe that was an overstatement, because the only thing I enjoy about being locked in this house is the fact that...Chandler...is here with me. If it were Mom and I, I probably would be hating my life right now. The walkers weren't really a problem with him. I guess I really liked him, and I wasn't going to let our parents come and ruin that.
Chandler nodded understandingly and took in another mouthful. It looked like it was probably 3 in the afternoon, so it was a bit late for breakfast, but no one really knew what time it was. And that's when I realized that I still had my phone. That thought made me jump a little, and I immediately shot from my seat and upstairs.
"Alex, you okay?" Chandler called from downstairs. I raided the bags in the bedroom that I had brought with me, and pulled out my phone. I still had three bars of battery life, but no service here. "Dammit," I mumbled. It was 4:37pm, so we still had a few hours of daylight left. I put my phone in my sleeve and headed back downstairs.
I was greeted by Chandler's concerned face, "...are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just needed to check something," I replied calmly. He gave a confused look, and then he sat back down on the couch with a sigh. I stepped up to the window and pulled my phone again, seeing if it would have better connection. No luck. Disappointed, I walked back over and sat down next to Chandler.
"Yeah, the cell service in this area isn't that great," Chandler said as I slumped down further into the couch. I didn't really see anything that we could possibly do for the next few hours, so I just ran upstairs and sat on my bed for a few hours, watching the walkers crawl by.

A soft, yet cold hand crept onto my shoulder, sending chills down my back. I turned around to see Chandler's blue eyes staring at me.
"Sure, just leave me alone downstairs to do nothing for three hours," he complained.
"Oh you poor thing," I teased, pushing his arm off of my shoulder. He laughed and put both of him arms around mine from behind. I smiled and turned back to the window, watching the walkers just roam around, doing virtually nothing.
I felt kind of bad for them. They were once a person who had meaning to this world, but they were somehow turned into a walking piece of flesh. They had families and friends, jobs, a role in life. And now all they can do is walk and eat. I looked over to where we saw the woman from before, but all that remained was a puddle of blood and rotting flesh.
"Chandler, the woman from earlier isn't here..."
"They come back," he cut off, "I saw it before. That's where the walkers come from. They eat people and then the people come back and join the dead." Well that's interesting.
"Hey look, the sun is finally setting," I spoke, pointing out towards the horizon.
"Yeah, I'm gonna go to sleep now," he yawned. I nodded as he made his way towards the bed. I climbed in next to him, and waited until he had finally drifted off to sleep. I began plotting how I was going to retrieve the guns. Now we just wait until he falls asleep.
