"So, you got a name, kid?" the woman asked. We were about a half a mile into the woods and I could already see the pile of walkers in the distance.
"Yeah, um, Alex," I replied awkwardly.
"Michonne," the woman spoke. What an interesting name. I smiled and changed the subject, "those walkers up ahead are the ones surrounding the tree."
Michonne just nodded and whipped out her sword as she sliced through the middle of a walker's head. I hadn't seen that one coming, so I mentally thanked her for saving my ass.
She looked like it was no big deal that we were about to walk through a huge crowd of walkers to save a random kid that she didn't even know for a girl that she barely knew, but I mean that's cool with me. She's helping me out here so I won't complain. We walked a bit further and Michonne sliced a few more walkers as I used my knife and split a few heads, no big deal. Kind of a second nature to me now to just kill dead people...if that even makes sense. Whatever.
I followed tightly behind Michonne as we made our way through the congregation of walkers and I was in awe at how amazing Michonne was at killing walkers. Finally the tree came into view, and Chandler wasn't visible. We were still 20 feet away so maybe he was just trying to camouflage in the trees, but I saw the walkers were no longer scraping up the trunk of the tree. But who knows, it could be that they were still distracted by us.
"Alex!" I heard Michonne call out as a walker fell onto my back. I shoved it into another walker, making it knock over to more walkers behind it. Hey cool, walker dominos. If only this kind of dominos wouldn't leave me covered in fucking blood from a dead body. I must've zoned off thinking about Chandler because Michonne was lightly kicking my ankle from the back. I turned my head slightly to see her back to mine as she was slicing more walkers. "Mind helping?" she asked as I felt another walker on my shoulder.
I had eventually had enough of trying to stab them, so I just whipped out my gun instead and shot down the walker on my shoulder just as it was about to bite into my arm. It fell to the ground as another walker tripped over it and face-planted into the ground. I shot that one in the back of the head as well.
I gunned down about ten of them when Michonne scolded, "what are you thinking? Do you want every walker for miles coming in on us?"
I sighed and put it away, pulling out the blade again. There were only a few left anyway, so I just took those out until there was only one left. I felt Kyle tug on my hair, and I put him onto the ground as I realized that it wasn't him, it was another walker. I felt the teeth start to pierce my skin, and let out a scream.
Before it could fully sink its teeth into my flesh, a point came right at my forehead, and stopped a centimeter away. It felt like everything suddenly stopped for a moment, until the tip shot backwards and the walker fell to the ground. I examined my shoulder, no bite. Thank god.
Another hand grabbed onto my shoulder and a wave of panic surged throughout my body, until I looked up into Michonne's dark eyes. I sighed with relief as she opened her mouth, "they're gone in this area. Now what tree did you say he was in?" I smiled a bit and pointed to the tree that was now 15 feet away as we both trudged over to it, covered in dirt and blood. I examined each and every branch.
Where the hell is he? He can't be gone. He has to be here. He was in this. Exact. Tree. I'm sure of it. But where is he?
"No one here," Michonne confirmed, "anywhere else we can check?"
"This would be the only place, I think...he's gone."
