"What do you mean Kanna?" Dad asked, his eye wide with a heart broken look.
I leaned over, feeling a pain in my chest like I was being stabbed by a kunai. Suddenly I felt a hand around mine and I looked up, Naruto gave me a small sad smile. "It's okay Kan-chan." He said, I remember what he said at Kanaru pond....
'I don't understand how you feel, cause I never had parents but thats why I won't leave you. I won't break your heart again!'
I pressed my lips together and nodded, "Mom... was the assistant bridge builder, after we met Jichan. It was a better paying job and it'd be our ticket to save enough and visit Konoha. By this time, Jichan had a few attempts on his life so Mom and I were careful about going out alone during the day. Apparently not careful enough cause I came back home and Mom was dying... there was nothing I could do... and I..." I paused and squeezed Naruto's hand.
"Its... alright Kanna. I understand, team... we're continuing this mission however it is now classified as an A-B rank so be on your guard." Dad said, I looked up at him with surprise then leaped forward wrapping my arms around his neck.
"Thank you so much Dad." I muttered.
He put his arms around me and one hand on my head, holding me close. "I wouldn't forgive myself if I had abandoned this mission, especially when it means so much to my only daughter." He said.
I pulled back and kissed his cheek before sitting back down next to Naruto. It was quiet for the rest of the boat ride, till we hit land. Naruto jumped off on the ground, turning and smiling at me."Come on Kan-chan! Let's go."
I smiled and nodded, "Alright, I'm coming."
Immediately after I stepped off the boat I tensed, I felt a pair of eyes on us. I looked at Naruto and he gave me the same look. He took out a kunai and threw it into the woods, a bit off trajectory though.
"Naruto, what are you doing?" Dad asked as he stepped off the boat.
Naruto opened his mouth but I interrupted, "Nothing, let's get on with it." I said quickly then grabbed Naruto's hand, pulling him way ahead of me.
"Kan-chan? Why didn't we tell Kakashi-sensei about the eyes?" He asked.
"Right now, the person watching us thinks we don't know where they are. You missed them by a long shot so if we pretend that we still can't find them then we may be able to get the advantage of surprise." I said, glancing around.
Naruto nodded, "Ah... Got it, dattebayo!" He said and we walked along, our group trailing behind us.
Every once in a while, I'd tap Naruto's hand and he'd immediately throw a kunai in the direction of the watcher but purposely missed. Naturally everyone around us chalked it up to be Naruto being an idiot. My eyes caught something white, I tapped Naruto's hand.
"Over there." I said and he threw the kunai immediately.
"Ha gotcha!" Naruto yelled.
"Cha! Naruto you idiot, you about hit a bunny!" Sakura snapped angrily.
Naruto gasped and ran over to it, picking it up and cradling it. "Oh I'm sorry bunny. I didn't mean to almost hit you dattebayo!" He said. I stared at the white bunny, somethings wrong.
My eyes widened when I felt something come at us fast. "Naruto get down!" I yelled just as Dad had yelled for everyone to duck.
I tackled Jichan to the ground just as a large silver sword flew past our hands, sticking into the end of the tree. As I helped Jichan and Naruto back up, a man shunshined on top of it with a large grin.
