"Mom?"

My mother smiled at me, and nodded. "Yes dear, it's me. It's okay." She said calmly.

Tears sprung to my eyes and I lurched forward, wrapping my arms around her neck. She hugged me back with a chuckle, holding me close. She was warm, my mother was actually warm. I could feel her heart beat and hear her breathing. Wait... She's alive.

I pushed back with a glare, "What is this? Some kind of trick, your dead." I snapped.

Her smile faltered and she nodded, "Yes, I am dead."

"Then how are you here?" I asked, confusion spreading across my face.

"Because you're dying." She answered.

My eyes widened and I remembered what was happening before. "The fight with Zabuza... my team~!"

"Are safe, they're trying to save you now." She said, then gave me a glare, "Which brings up the fact of why you are seeing me. Young lady, if you die right now you are grounded for the rest of eternity." She said sternly.

I stared at her in shock, then I felt a laugh bubble up. I looked up and covered my eyes as tears fell from them, a light laugh leaving my lips. My mother gave me a confused look, however, I just laughed and hugged her again.

"I thought I'd never see you again Mom." I muttered, burring my head into her neck.

A small smile returned to her face, "Yes, neither did I. Now, I'm really curious who is Ink-chan?" She asked with a eager tone.

I leaned back, "Oh.. Um, Ink-chan is Inner Kanna. My voice of reason you could say..."

My mom tilted her head, "You're talking to yourself?"

I shrunk, a red blush on my cheeks. "No! She's separate, created from your chakra!" I snapped in embarrassment.

My mom laughed, "So you gave her name?" She asked.

I crossed my arms, "Yeah..."

'Hmm, Ink-chan. I like it.'

I heard Inner-Kanna's voice from behind me and turned my head, there stood a girl who mirrored my looks. Except she had a bright smile and short wavy bobbed hair, one of her eyes was black the other still an icy blue color. She actually looked happy.

"What... How are you here?" I asked.

She smiled and sat next to me, 'Well, since you're between life and death we're trapped between your mind and the spirit world. This way, I can take form.'

"I see. How do you know all this stuff, Ink?" Tilting my head.

'Just because.' she answered with a cheeky smile.

I deadpanned, "What do you mean just because~"

'Just because, you don't need to know.'

"Bitch..."

'Whore.'

My mother laughed and both Ink-chan and I turned our heads towards her. "It's like having twins. You guys are the same  but so different." She said as we both gave her a confused look.

I blushed and crossed my arms, "Well of course, she's what I would have been." I snapped. It then turned my head, "Speaking of that, what happens if I change? If I start to become like you... or well, my old self."

Ink-chan shrugged, 'I don't know Kanna... But if I were to guess, I think we would merge... It only makes sense, you will never become me Kanna. The damage to your mental and emotional state has been done and can never be reversed. I was created from your mothers chakra to keep the damage from being increased as her last wish. However, that doesn't mean you can't change for the better. If it ever gets to that point... well, then I won't have a need to exist anymore.'
