Hey!
Cherie here. Intro: I'm 20 (and yes, still writing teen fic coz its fun heh) (sighs). I'm going to be starting my third year in college. Like the protagonist of this story, I'm also a psych student.
A Knight in Pretty Shitty Armour (abbreviation: AKIPSA) is a sort off spin off my story The Bad Boy's Baby. It's doing well by my standards and I'm actually proud of it. It classifies as a short story in the sense that it has only 22 chapters+epilogue. Do read it of you would like too! (on my profile)
It's in the epilogue that I introduce Cass, the MC here, as a narrator. Initially I just wanted to write for the heck of it but I realised that I liked writing from her frame of mind. After thinking a lot I courted the idea of maybe making a new story with her in the centre. It's still in the works but I do look forward to exploring Cass as a character!
So, summary of TBBB for those who stumbled upon this first and don't wish to read TBBB (although if you do read it I will love you forever). This is the blurb.
Madison 'Maddie' Brooke is your average goody two shoes/nerd, who's never done the B of Bad. So when she decides to let down her guard and enjoy an end of summer high school party, she never thought she'd end up hooking up with the town's resident bad boy, Colton Rivera, or the horrific aftermath: that she'd end up pregnant with his baby.
Colton's refusal to accept the baby only makes her sure that she's going to give up the baby for adoption once its born- that's what a sensible girl would do, right? But when Colton shows up at her doorstep begging her to continue with the pregnancy and an interest to help her with the baby, Maddie might have a change of heart. And as they both work together, Maddie is exposed to a new, hidden side to Colton, one that touches her deeply and one that she feels would make an excellent dad, not to mention, makes her fall a little in love with him. Trying to get rid of these feelings is hard, because she knows Colton is going to go away after the nine months are over. Or will he?
The epilogue in TBBB shows Colton and Maddie settling in (don't worry about it being a spoiler because TBBB is certifiably cliche and predictable) and Cass meeting them once college starts. There she meets Alex as well and he hints that he finds her "interesting". Cassandra Holden, my character, is Maddie's best friend and the town's bad girl. Alexander Knight is a popular guy from their school who is a womaniser and a complete jerk, and who Cassandra hates (or as she'll say, dislikes). He was also Colton's ex best friend (although now he's back to being friends) and this is how he becomes Maddie's friend. The circumstances in TBBB make sure that Cass and Alex are now forced to meet each other. AKIPSA is thus based on that, but so much more.
I connected with Cass. I don't do half the things she does but personality wise I do feel like I'm similar to Cass, which is why I was interested in writing her side. So here it is. I hope you do like this, and her, as I have. I wish to use this story to write something more than an average cliche; it may seem like it but I hope to show some changes that I went through myself, through my characters. After all, if you don't put little pieces of yourself in your story, are you really writing from the heart?
With hope in my heart,
Cherie, XOXO.
