Life's Little game.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tucker looked in my eyes, gripping my hands tightly. I felt the butterflies come again, just like they did every time we touched. He stared at me like that until the light turned green and we moved forward again.

He turned his head slightly towards me and I continued to stare at his perfect features, how had I managed to get such a fine guy? One eye on the road and one eye on me he spoke.

"Ayesha... You know how much I love you..." he started slowly. My heart skipped a beat and I had to work to loosen my grip on his hand. I saw him smirk at me and I blushed.

"You know how much I love you... And I never want to let you go... Ayesha... will you marry me?" He asked while flipping open a tiny black velvet box that I hadn't noticed he was holding. Inside was the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. It had a plain golden band, adorned with four diamonds.

My heart fluttered and I almost forgot to breathe, he waited expectantly and I didn't answer. Of course I wanted to marry him, but we were young... maybe our parents wouldn't let us... Idiot Ayesha! Answer him quick!

I looked up at him and he turned his face towards me when I didn't answer. I opened my mouth to say that one word that would change my life and...

'BANG' Our car was hit by another on-coming truck. The windscreen shattered, sprinkling glass everywhere and I screamed, clutching onto Tucker for dear life. We swerved off the road and the left side of the car, where I was sitting, smashed into a thick tree, breaking the passenger side window. I screamed again and looked up only to see Tucker unbuckling me.

He forced me through the broken windscreen and as soon as I was out of the car I realised why he had pushed me out. The tail end of the truck was swinging around and the truck had toppled over, heading straight for the car.

"Tucker! Get out, quick!" I screamed frantically, kneeling on the hood of our car. He seemed to be having trouble with his seat belt and there was blood dripping from a cut on his forehead into his eyes... He couldn't see what he was doing...

I reached back into the car and unlatched his seat belt allowing him to start climbing out. I helped drag him, while he kicked away at the shards of glass still attached to the windscreen.

My hand slipped out of his through all my effort and I ended up flying back off the hood of the car. I looked up just in time to see the truck hit our car... with Tucker still inside.

"NO!" I screamed. My throat felt as if it was ripping. I scrambled to my feet running to the wreckage of our car. I vaguely saw the dazed truck driver stumble from the cab of his truck, seemingly unhurt. I leapt onto the hood of our car again, reaching inside and grabbing onto Tuckers collar. His breathing was shallow and his face cut. Using all my strength, I managed to haul him out of his seat and half of his chest through the window. My arms were aching, so tired and I could feel a warm liquid seeping down my face.

I used what little energy I had left to drag the rest of Tuckers body out of the car and onto the hood, beside me.

I laid him on his back and I started to cry, warm tears pouring down my cheeks and pooling onto his cut face.

He was dying, his breaths becoming shallower!

"HELP! We NEED HELP! SOMEBODY CALL AN AMBULANCE!" I screamed as loud as I could, I could see cars parked all along the edge of the motorway, a crowd was forming. Why weren't any of them doing anything?

"HELP!" I screamed once more. I was about to continue when I heard a moan beneath me.

"Tucker, Tucker baby! Yes, yes I'll marry you! And now that you have your answer, don't die! You can't leave me, please don't leave me." I pleaded with him. His eyes flickered open, not seeing me. His eyes wheeled around slowly, searching, searching...
