Once we were out of sight, Halo pulled me to the side.
"Did you see him?"
I was a bit confused.
"Um, who? Sorry Halo but you got to be more specific."
"The Russian kid, I mean he should be easy to spot but I didn't see him, did you?"
"No, sorry I wasn't paying much attention."
His smiled vanished and lowered his voice a bit.
"Nate, you got to remember, we are not here for fun, we are on a mission then we are going back. Don't get attached, if you do it will be harder to let go."
I nodded then I heard foot steps. I quickly grabbed his hand and started to pull him so we looked like we were searching for the main office. Then a tall women in a pencil skirt and gray hair walked around the corner.
"What do you two think you are doing?"
I quickly gulped, pretending to be scared.
"Um sorry ma'am. We were looking for the main office. We are new students here and we have no idea where we are going."
Her scold vanished and she put a smile on.
"Oh I am sorry dear. I didn't mean to scare you. Well come with me the office is this way. You just made a turn a bit early."
She smiled and we followed the way she had come from.
"By the way I am Mrs. Walken. I am 9th grade physical science."
I smiled up at her.
"I am Nate and this Halo. I will be a junior and he is a senior."
She smiled a bit.
"Well welcome to our school, I do hope you both like it here."
Then she was pushing us in the office. I looked around to see a big desk with two women sitting their typing away on their computers. Then their was another office by that with a sign that said NURSE. Then their was an even bigger room by that with a sign that said PRINCIPLE. My guess that person was like a headmaster.
"May I help you two?"
The short women with black hair and a friendly face asked.
"Well yes you can. We are the transfer students from Sweden. We don't exactly have schedules..."
Her smile turned kind and she had an understanding look on her face.
"Oh I see, then you must be Nathaniel Cole and you Halon Angel. "
I waved at the names.
"I am sorry but can you just call me Nate and him Halo, those are the names we go by."
"Oh of course I will put that in the computer for attendance. And there we go."
She did a bit of typing and then hit enter.
"Well, why don't you two sit down and take a break so when Mr. King is ready you will be ready to go."
"That won't be necessary Ms.Bins. I will take them now."
A big man with a bald head walked out. He looked very cold and had a big booming voice. Not as scary as Scar though or my father for that fact but we still went in timidly. The man sat down on the opposite side of the desk and we waited to be told to sit.
"Please sit, you are making me nervous. So you two are both from S.S. Sweden scholar academy. So I take you are both extremely smart. I know she is..."
He pointed a finger at me.
"Because of the test she took so she could skip a grade. Got a 100% on that too. Looks like you got some brains in you as well Halo, all A's and in all top classes. Both are very athletic and have amazing records. So I know you both have no idea what kind of classes you want to take so I did my best to pair you in classes that match your readings...."
He handed us both thick sheet of paper with subjects, room numbers and teachers, as well as locker numbers and combinations.
"... these are your schedules and locker combinations and on the back has the school rules but I know you both read them already but for just in case moments you have them. These should help you with your classes and I will have a couple of students from your grades come up to help give you a show around the school. Best part you will be going home early too. Get to say hi to classmates and teachers then start tomorrow."
I was smiling eye to eye, I always wanted to go to an actual school after I was taken by the academy of assassins and now I am at one. I mean this is going to be so much fun. Halo's voice broke me out of my thoughts though.
"Sir, I do appreciate this greatly, but if you don't mind I would like to spend some time in my classes so I can get a feel for them. And I think Nate would like that too. I mean just half of the class is fine but we like having a feel for how things work. So staying a whole day would not be a bad thing."
The man was nodding in impression on what Halo was saying .
"Very good point Mr. Angel. I will let you do that if you want but I know the time is a bit different over here then over there. So I do get it if you are tired."
This time I spoke for us.
"We would love to stay for the day if you don't mind, there has to be someone that is in most of our classes to help us around."
The principle smiled.
"In fact the people I have chosen to help you around are ones that are in all your classes so that works out perfectly. I will tell them the changes and they will be glad to follow them."
We both nodded our thanks then we were in the waiting room waiting for our guides to show up.
A few minutes later a girl with frizzy blond hair and glasses showed up and a boy with lots of freckles and black hair showed up.
"Well Nate this is Sail and Halo this is Nick, they will be showing you two to your classes before the warning bell goes off."
With that we were walking out the front office going separate ways.
"So you are the new girl from Sweden."
I nodded
"Yep that would be me."
"Your accent is really strong, but somehow your English is perfect. Very impressive."
I shrugged.
"I have had a lot of practice. My second foster parents were English so I had to learn at a young age."
But actually at the institute we had to learn all the languages and had to be able to speak fluent in them all. It sucked. I used to mix up all the languages up.
"Wow that had to be tough."
Man this girl was not cheerful. She sounded board with everything she said. I don't think she liked me very much.
"So how about you, what is your story?"
I tried to ask nicely and it sounded like I did but inside I was screaming kill this brat already.
"I am quite simple actually.."
You don't say
"... I come from one of the richest family around and is pretty much good at everything."
Damn girl big ego much?
"Impressive. I am like a total mess. I can't do a lot right and it seems like I am messing up all the time."
"Then you need to work harder."
Was all she said. Please god just let me slap her, just once so I can make her shut up.
"So I bet you have a lot of friends, what are they like?"
I asked in the most perky voice I could because if I didn't I would sound mean as hell.
"I have a load of them. And most of them are great and trusting and awesome, but then their are ones I don't really care for and just play nice so when they come over they give me stuff."
"Uh... don't you think that is a... mean?"
She quickly looked over at me.
"Are you judging me?"
I quickly waved my hands in denial.
"Oh god no! I was just saying."
But actually, yes I was.
"You better not judge, because I can have you on your knees in twenty seconds."
I looked at her confused, but I actually knew what she meant, but really it was the other way around. She would be begging for mercy if I was aloud to hurt her mentally or physically. At this point it didn't matter.
"Why would you want me on my knees?"
"God I thought they said you were smart. I mean I can have everyone in this school hate you in matter of seconds."
Oh god please let me at her!
"Ok now I understand. You have to forgive me I am not the greatest at the English language."
"Well you better learn quick because our first class is English language arts."
Please, please let me smack her and please give me another guide. We walked into the class. It had desks and a chalkboard and looked normal. Their was a tall man at the front writing down the lessons for the day and the objective of the day.
"Mr. Brown, our new student is here today."
"Not now Sail, I have to finish this. You know where your desk is, why don't you sit down their, I will take care of... I am sorry what is your name?"
"Nate, sir."
"Ah the girl from Sweden, I have heard some great things about you. Quiet smart too, all accelerated classes. I will be with you about your seat in a minute."
I smiled and just leaned against the back wall. The teacher walked over to his desk picked up the clip board and then pointed at the seat in the far corner. As I took my seat the bell went off and a flood of kids came in. I stayed silent and noticed that none of my friends were in this class so I just stayed silent. I was then soon taped on my shoulder. I turned to a boy with black hair and brown eyes wearing a football jersey.
"Who are you?"
Was all he said.
"I am Nate Cole."
"I haven't seen you from around here before."
"Well yeah I am a transfer student."
"A newbie. Where from?"
"The S.S Sweden scholar academy."
"So that is what your accent is from, Sweden."
"Yeah, I am sorry, who are you?"
He slid his hand through his hair. More then likely his cool move or something out of nervousness.
"Oh I am Dave."
"Uh nice to meet you."
Then I turned back around hoping to be left alone but nope he just walked in front of my desk and sat on top of it.
"I wasn't done talking to you."
I was a little stunned that he just decided to be so.... out there.
"Um ok? But I don't think we are supposed to sit on the desk top."
He did a small hand thing then was talking again.
"Mr. Brown doesn't care. He just cares if you do the work and pay attention. So do you have a boyfriend?"
My mouth fell open in shock. Then I closed it. The words seemed to not come out. Then he got impatient and then put words in my mouth. Not literally of course.
"I will take that as a no... so here is the place and time and I will see you then."
He then got up and left to sit back behind me. I turned around and placed the paper back on his desk.
"I am sorry, you seem like a nice guy and all, but I do have a boyfriend, he actually came to America with me."
I gave him an apologetic look then I turned around just as the bell rang for class to start.
"Everyone please take out your notebooks, if you don't have one just use a paper."
I dug around my bag and grabbed my notebook and pencil. I placed them on the desk and opened it to the first blank page.
"As you all may have noticed we have a new student. Miss. Cole please stand and come forward."
I did as asked and timidly stood in front of them all. I noticed a few guys winking and pointing at me like I was some kind of fair animal.
"Nate would you like to say something interesting about yourself to the class?"
I would not but I wasn't going to say that. I can't state that I am a professional killer.
"Um.... I am a student from one of the top school of Sweden. I also skipped a grade."
The teacher began to clap and the students soon followed. I simply whispered to the teacher.
"Sorry I am not that interesting."
He smiled down at me.
"Better then most people."
I laughed and walked back to my seat and I noticed Sail glaring at me from the other side of the room. Then the teacher started to talk again.
"Ok now for the assignment, it will be due at the end of the class. What is one thing you found interesting about the Holocaust? It should be at least two pages long after written. Remember to sight evidence and to use MLA format."
Uh.... what am I supposed to use for evidence? Was all I could think. I mean I learned all about this when I was going over the history needed for the assignment. The question was soon answered by the teacher walking to my desk.
"Nate I do understand that you were not here for the unit of the Holocaust so I want you to write about the unit of what you learned at your school, if they taught it."
I smiled.
"They did, I am sorry but I won't be able to sight evidence very well, I had to return all my books."
"That is alright just do your best."
Then he walked away as I began to write.
By the time class was over I had 6 pages of my notebook filled with words on what I learned on the Holocaust. A lot more than the others in the class since the back of the paper was filled as well. Like I thought we had to turn in our notebooks for him to grade.
"Wow, Nate this is a lot, very nice handwriting and form as well."
I smiled and then met up with Sail.
"You know you shouldn't show off."
I shrugged.
"Well that for my old school wouldn't have been enough for an A in the class, usually you have to have 10 pages written front and back."
She glared at me.
"See right there again. Showing off, that is not a good thing. You need to act cool and not super smart no one likes a know it all."
Then a boy walked up next to Sail and took her hand. Boyfriend probably.
"Hey hun, how was class?"
She rolled her eyes.
"Supper boring like normal."
He shrugged then noticed me.
"Hey newbie, what did you think of class?"
"Uh... I am sorry but how did you know I was new?"
"I haven't seen you before. But still how did you like the class."
I shrugged.
"It was too easy if you ask me, but that is coming from a person that went to the top school of Sweden so that is not saying much."
He smiled at me and I noticed Sail was not to happy about that.
"Well, then you have all right to call that class boring."
Oh thank god the boyfriend is a lot better then this brat.
